TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about not being in Thailand for the 90-day reporting period required for their retirement visa after returning to England. They received clarification that the 90-day countdown only occurs while they are in Thailand, meaning there is no report due as long as they are outside the country. However, they must ensure they have a re-entry permit to maintain the validity of their visa when they come back.

I wish these pages could automatically delete any member that does a laugh emoji at a legit question about a visa issues...WHICH IS WHAT THIS PAGE IS FOR! What are you people, like 5 years old? We all know you are the smartest of all time. We get it...

Nicholas Softley Or old men who assume anyone younger is dumb. There was an older guy that was making fun of a question on the rise in electric bills in Bangkok, which I noticed as well. And he thought it was as simple as "you morons, you lay for what you use. To pay less, use less." But I pointed out to him we all know that which is why we don't ask about the rise in bill every month. We ask when it's unusual and this is how we learn by observing. He was like "ah, never thought of that". People who can't see beyond simplicity sometimes miss the nuances of a legit question.

if the stamp in your passport says June 2024 then you're good to go. No worries at all. Start counting day 1 for your 90 day report when you return in September.

You're worried about the wrong thing. A 90 day report is done when you spend 90 days in a row in Thailand. When you're not in Thailand you're not spending 90 days in a row in Thailand, so there is no 90 day report. If you left at 89 days every time you'd never do a 90 day report because you never spent 90 days in a row in Thailand. When you return to Thailand you start over at day 1 because it's only consecutive days in Thailand that matters.

What I'm wondering about is you said you just got your retirement visa while you were in Thailand. A retirement non-O visa is only valid for 90 days. So if you got that then it will expire at the beginning of September and you will have to start all over again.

Or did you already do the 90 day in Thailand and then apply for the 1 year extension and that's what you are on now? If you are on the 1 year extension then you don't need to worry about the timing.

The final thing to ask is did you get a re-entry permit before you left? If you don't get a re-entry permit before you left your visa/extension is no longer valid as it's void the moment you leave the country without the re-entry permit.
