Hi all,

Iโ€™ll be going to Thailand in October and returning home in February next year. I have a multiple non immigrant o visa. If I get a retirement visa whilst in Thailand and a re entry permit before I leave, how long is it valid for? I will return to Thailand around October 2023.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a multiple-entry Non-O visa and plans to apply for a retirement visa while in Thailand. A comment explains that with the Non-O visa, the user will be stamped in for 90 days upon entry. They can apply for a one-year extension within the last 30 days of that stamp, with the extension being valid for a year from the expiration of the original 90-day stamp. The re-entry permit will match the extension's validity.

you aren't gonna get ANY visa when you're here ๐Ÿ˜ฎ you HAVE a Non-O multi-entry, so when you come in you'll get stamped in for 90 days. THEN when you have 30 days or less left on that you go to the immigration office and apply for a year extension (by meeting the financial requirements, etc) for 1900baht and after you get that year extension inked in you can buy a re-entry permit.

The extension will be a year from the date your 90 day entry stamp expires and the re-entry permit will have the same expiration,.

So if you enter in Oct on a Non-O multi-entry visa, you'll get stamped in until January and that means at most offices you can apply for an extension in Dec (when you have 30 days or less left on your 90 day stamp. SOME offices allow you to do it when you have 45 days or less left so check with your office when you get here and see what they do

thank you, thatโ€™s very helpful.

Just to clarify, the re entry permit is also valid for a year?

the re-entry permit is valid for exactly as long as your extension is valid for ๐Ÿ™‚

That means IF you apply for and get a year extension a re-entry permit will be good until that date too

they sell re-entry permits two ways, a single entry for 1000baht and a multiple entry one for 3800baht
