Asking for a relative.

She has a work permit with a visa valid until Feb 2021. She handed in her notice back in March. The school wants to terminate the work permit this week (end of contract).

Will the Immigration office (Pathum Thani) cancel her existing visa? Or, just stamp her passport with the amnesty stamp good until the 31st of July. She does not intend to get another work permit because she has an internship organized.

She isn't one of the 6 countries allowed into Cambodia and doesn't want to return(fly) home because of the internship here in Thailand.

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is concerned about the cancellation of her visa after her work permit is terminated. It's clarified that she must personally cancel her visa associated with her employment, and while her visa technically remains valid, an amnesty until July 31 allows her time to resolve her status without penalties.

31 July is an amnesty on overstay. There is no stamp for it. Whatever visa or extension you have technically expires on the date in your passport, but immigration are giving you until 31 July to sort yourself out, without penalty.

you need to understand the difference between a VISA entry stamp and an extension of stay
@Bobby *******
because they are completely different in how they're handled ESPECIALLY extensions based on employment,.

On an extension based on employment you can't just "let it run out" and think you're gonna click over to amnesty.. You need to cancel your work permit GO cancel your extension and THEN you'll be on the amnesty.

AND

FWIW: the amnesty is not an overstay either..

>She has a work permit with a visa valid until Feb 2021

I doubt it. I am guessing she has an extension of stay (“the stamp”) based on employment that is valid until February 2021.

>She handed in her notice back in March. The school wants to terminate the work permit this week (end of contract)

She, NOT THE SCHOOL, need to cancel the extension of stay based on employment and the work permit, they both belong to her.

>Will the Immigration office (Pathum Thani) cancel her existing visa?

Immigration offices do not cancel visas, but they do cancel extension of stay.

>She does not intend to get another work permit because she has an internship organized

I’m guessing she is a student? Did she already get a visa to study for her internship?

The school seems to be insistant on doing it themselves without her needing to be present.

Her extension of stay expires August 19th BUT it is only stamped in her work permit but there is no extension of stay in her passport. Do immigration cancel extensions of stay in work permits? I would have thought that they would only deal with passports and not work permits.
