Evening

My school is going to complete paperwork for cancellation of work permit and the visa. So I understand the sequence so gets processed smoothly and ensure no overstay , have some questions:

1) Can the paperwork and processing for both wp and visa be completed on the same day?

2) if not ,would the wp paperwork be taken in first ,so to have cancellation on a specific day and on that day go to immigration to cancel the visa

3) I could apply for extension ,on the same date, which would be declined and where I could pay 1,900 baht to get 7 days in order to leave the country.

Thank you for your assistance and any clarification.

most people cancel the work permit a week or so before then go to the immigration office also a week or so before the date on the paperwork from your employer stating your last day.

The immigration office cancels your extension and gives you a NEW stamp that lets you stay until the date on the termination paperwork.

That way you're not screwing around with buying a 7 day extension denied stamp that gives you a week to get out of thailand OR facing leaving that very day.

DO IT EARLY..

Remember, on the day your extension is cancelled is the day you either:

A. leave Thailand by 11:59pm or be on overstay, or

B. Purchase an extension of stay denied for 1,900 THB, which will give you 7 days to leave the country.

not if they’re able to get the correct paperwork from their employer. If they have a letter from them that states their employment finishes on the 20th (for example) they can cancel their WP then extension a week prior and they will get a stamp to say admitted until the 20th. The theory sounds good but in practice it depends on the employer and the immigration office they use.

As mentioned, to avoid any difficulties, cancel wp and extension in advance. As example, you stop working 14 Jan 2020, your employer writes a letter as end of contract 16 Jan, You visit before 12 Jan the Ministry of Labor, show the letter and cancel your Work Permit from day 16, take the paperwork to Immigration and cancel your Extension of Stay on day nr 16. Than work until day 14, pack your farewell gifts and your bags on the 15th and leave on the 16th.

I guess you have two choices.

1. go to cancel WP and extension in advance (many provinces allow you to two weeks before... and you can do this on the same day or canceling extension later before real cancellation day) then leave Thailand on the day or before of cancellation day of extension

2. go to cancel WP and extension as late as possible may be the last day, apply for extension and get "not approved and 7days to leave the country" stamp paying 1,900bath, then leave within those 7days.

Ooops, all above is in case of you are on extension, not the original entry from your first single entry non-B visa.

@Ellie ******
yes i am on an extension

maybe easiest is as
@Stuart ********
says above.

If you want t to apply extension (and get not approved then 7days to leave), you need to do all applications as late as possible since those 7 days start the earliest day of your cancellation date or application day... if they would give you.

i will be doing a border hop before finish the 7 days , assuming provided.

cancel your wp then go to immigration with receipt document of cancellation.

Okay. Would that have to be done the same day? So not to run into an overstay

Easiest option (if available) is to get your school to say you are finished on the day you want to leave. Cancel your work permit a few days before. Go to immigration with that documentation and they stamp you until that day.
