If my school takes too long and I can't cancel my work permit and visa in time for my flight, will there be a problem for me? Would they stop me from going back to the USA?

TLDR : Answer Summary
You won't be stopped from leaving Thailand if your school takes too long to cancel your work permit and visa. However, you might face issues when trying to return to Thailand for work in the future if you don't cancel your Non-B extension before departing. It's crucial that you take action yourself to manage your work permit and visa cancellation instead of relying solely on your employer.

It is YOUR passport and YOUR work permit. YOU have to take action and not wait if your employer has time.

You can cancel both in advance, as example visit Ministry of Labor on 15 July and cancel your work permit on 1 Aug as last day of working, then visit the Immigration Office and do the same. There is always time enough, if you do not wait until boarding the plane.

It’s simply a letter stating your work is finished on X day. Surely they can type this out quickly.

if they write I'm done on the 2nd, but I go on the 1st will that satisfy things so I'm not illegal and don't have to pay 2000 baht for half a day?

nope won't stop you from leaving but if/when you come back and were ever going to work here again you could have problems because you didn't cancel your Non-B extension before you left

So, my flight is in the morning. Is it possible to cancel it a day before without having to pay for more extensions for 1 day?
