Hi all. I am returning to the US next week, and my school is telling me they will not cancel my work permit until after I leave. I thought I had to do that and cancel my visa to be allowed to leave. Is that still the process?
Also, if I do a covid test the day before and test positive can I go to bkk immigration and get a covid extension? Assuming I will have only the 7 day visa to leave Thailand.
Thanks for your help!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of leaving Thailand involves managing both your visa and work permit. It's noted that if you don’t have a re-entry permit, your visa and work permit will automatically cancel when you exit the country. While it is advisable to formally cancel your extension and work permit before leaving to avoid future fines, it is not mandatory if you don't plan to return. If you test positive for COVID-19 the day before departure, you should not go to immigration but can obtain a medical extension through the hospital you would quarantine in. You may want to have a representative go on your behalf to handle immigration issues.
