Will I face fines for TM30 reporting gaps when extending my Tourist Visa in Thailand?

Assume a 60 day Tourist Visa and I stay 20 days in a Bangkok hotel, 10 days in private Bangkok residence (say no TM30 req'd in BKK) then 20 days in Pattaya (50 days) and then apply for 30 day extension in Jomtien. Surely Jomtien Immigration will fine me for the TM30 gap in my national file by saying I probably was in Pattaya for those earlier 10 days??? (I cannot prove them wrong if Bangkok Immigration say dont bother us ie no evidence).

TLDR : Answer Summary
The issue at hand involves potential fines related to the TM30 reporting requirements while extending a 60-day Tourist Visa in Thailand. The original poster has stayed in Bangkok's hotel and private residence and is concerned about a gap in TM30 reporting due to time spent in Pattaya before their extension application in Jomtien. Comments indicate that while TM30 is mandated within 24 hours of staying at a private residence, enforcement varies across immigration offices. Many users suggest that potential penalties are not consistently enforced and emphasize the importance of proper reporting, although firsthand experiences indicate varying levels of compliance and scrutiny by different immigration offices.

You can apply for an extension of stay in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. Other offices sare 30 days or less, and Jomtien is 15 or less

There is no down side to applying early (if the office will let you) because they ADD the 30 day extension to your current expiration date.

Does immigration really keep records over foreigners movements, is it not only the current address that is visible for them?

Bangkok also requires to report. Bangkok Immigration office just doesn't care if you were reported or not at the time of your extension of stay application for tourist purpose right now.

Your date of arrival inside Thailand has NOTHING to do with the report of address. You report when staying in private residence within 24 hours after arrival at the address. Where you stayed before is irrelevant. You will not get a fine if hotels in other areas did not report you.

if you go to report in Samui immigration they refuse to do because they don't need

It is ordered by law, BUT if you don't need any visit to your local Immigration nothing will happen. It is only enforced at several Immigration Offices when you apply for Extensions of Stay or Visa. Those who not care, seems to have no problem with the fine of 1.600 Thb.

@Robert ******
Yes I do understand that. But many on this site say they don't require or care. I assume best to report within 24 hours and hope I get receipt

You do not need any proof of compliance. You only need to report when you arrive at your private address.

But if Bangkok immigration does not require report then I have no proof of compliance

in Koh Samui we don't have this kind of problem, immigration don't need you TM30 everytime :)

I think easier to pay the 1600, if they ask ,

Then worry worry and waste time at immigration

Within 24 hours of arriving at Jomtien go to immigration and do the TM30 and the extension

Or just go to immigration in Bangkok and extend before you go.

I take your point, but if apply too early ie 30 days into 60 day visa maybe sent away till 50 th etc.

they should give you the extension

Then you have no need to go in to the immigration office at Jomtien

Apparently Bangkok Immigration says not required and I guess will not entertain me.
