Hello All

As a tourist, I entered thailand last month and have been moving around different provinces, staying in hotels and resorts for 1 or 2 days at a time. I'm now about to convert my tourist visa to a B visa and immigration have granted me the visa but I have to do the notify of address thing before I get the B visa stamp. I signed a rental contract yesterday. I was told I 'may have to pay a fine' for the time I didn't notify while I was travelling around but surely I cannot notify for every stopover of my holiday.

Will I need to pay a fine and if so how much?

thanks to anyone who can shed light and sorry if this has been covered before.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for clarity on whether they will incur a fine for not notifying immigration about their address while traveling in Thailand on a tourist visa. They have since signed a rental contract and have been advised that hotels typically handle the notification process. However, there may be concerns regarding the TM30 requirement needed for converting their tourist visa to a B visa.

What we know about the TM30 system and the need to do it is in this post by Robert. It's the ONLY post about TM30's we leave open longer than it takes us to tell you legally you need to do one, read this thread, check with your immigration office.

Good Luck (y)

you aren't gonna convert a tourist visa or a 30 day visa exempt entry to a Non-B 90 day visa inside the country without a TM30 receipt of the address you live at in the area that is served by the immigration office you're using. SO I'd say get ahold of your employer or whoever is pushing paper and get a TM30 filed when you go to do the in country conversion.

The hotels and resorts do the notification for you.
