What should I do if I missed the TM30 filing deadline for my husband's visa extension in Thailand?

Hi everyone, need some advice here as I am freaking out a bit. My husband and I arrived in Bangkok mid October and are staying at my parents'. We just found out about the TM30 business as we're preparing for his extension request. Since, clearly, it's been more than 24 hrs since his arrival, is this a serious violation? Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The OP is concerned about possibly violating TM30 regulations due to not filing within 24 hours of arrival in Thailand. Several users provided advice on how to proceed, such as filing the TM30 online now to avoid complications with the visa extension application. They clarified that missing the deadline is common among foreigners and typically results in a fine of about 800 baht. They also noted the importance of filing the TM30 to qualify for the extension at the Chaengwattana immigration office.

okay you're FAR from the first foreigner who didn't file a TM30 on time and it's not an issue at all, the max fine is 1600baht and they usually charge you only half that 800 for the fine when you do file.

you WILL have to file a TM30 or you're NOT gonna be able to apply for a year extension at Chaengwattana.

So here's a thought, when you go out there (before you need the extension) to get the hand out from them with the requirements for a year extension based on marriage to a thai just file the TM30 then (take the house book/chanote etc with you so you have what you need to file)

Section B out there is the TM30 section

and

Section L-1 out there is the section you want to get the hand out with the requirements based on marriage to a thai national

It's your parent's place, get an online account for TM30 then submit his report. Then bring the screenshot when he applies for an extension.

Go to TM30 in the middle of the top page here.

I just didn't give the direct link to TM30 system because there are notifications on Popup before you are moved to actual TM30 website.

Could be. Some years ago a family of 4 arrived from the US and rented a house in Chiang Mai. The landlord was out of the country. The family could not extend their visa’s because a TM-30 was never filed. In the end the only solution was for the family to pay a 6400 Baht fine(1600x4). Do not know how Immigration will deal with this.

I would just go stay at a hotel, get a new one then refile at home.

So it appears that your husband entered Thailand with a Non O Visa as Married to Thai .. and the immigration office for any extension of stay is the main CW office in Bangkok.

Suggest you ask them for their list of requirements for the extension of stay he is going to be applying for.

Oh, I thought we had to go to the Chaengwattana one. Thank you, again, for the tip.

Yes it's the CW Chaengwattana Thai immigration office

And here's the information about your recent arrival... It's helpful to say what kind of Visa your husband is on and that you are Thai whenever posting on this forum...

"Hello all! My US husband (I'm Thai) is currently on a Non Im O 90 day visa under the Thai spouse allowance, which we obtained using our US marriage license without being certified by the Thai Embassy. When we apply for the 1 yr visa at the Immigration Office, does anyone know if we can use our US marriage license again? The lady at the NYC consulate said that "Proof of Relationship to Thai National" document (such as a marriage license) need not be certified by the Thai Embassy for visa purposes. Is that true? FYI - due to COVID shut downs, our license is still in process to be certified by the Thai Embassy in the US. It's been delayed with the Office of Authentications in DC. Thanks for your advice!"

always BEST to visit your local Thai immigration office and ask for their list of requirements for the visa AND or extension of stay you want.

Thank you, James! We're actually going in to ask for the 1 year spouse visa. Was gonna just head over to Chaengwattana and do both the TM30 and 1 yr extension all in one day when his bank account reaches 60 days old (Dec 26). Or is it better to rush over to get the TM30 all squared asap (i.e. Monday), you think?
James ********
@Aim ***********
no need to rush over... Just make his application for the one year extension of stay as Married to Thai... AND the Thai immigration officer may ask you to file the TM30 at that time.

Let's ask
@Tod ********
for his advice re the filing of the TM30 with the application for the one year extension of stay as Married to Thai. As Tod is most familiar with the CW Thai immigration office.
