I am planning to carry 2 KG of protein powder in check in baggage for personal use. Will there be any issues with customs or airline security?
I am travelling on Thai Airways.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Carrying 2 KG of protein powder in check-in baggage when flying on Thai Airways is generally acceptable with little concern for problems with customs or airline security. Many commenters suggest that protein powder is widely available in Thailand, encouraging travelers to consider purchasing it locally instead. Some noted experiences indicate that while customs may swab test the item, they have never faced issues bringing protein powder into the country. However, it's wise to keep it in its original, unopened packaging to avoid complications. The general consensus is that travelers should not worry excessively, but they may also find protein supplements to be more expensive in Thailand.

I did it 5 years ago for a friend. No problems. Did it as a carry-on.

There are many many stores in Thailand that sell good brand protein powders .. there’s a lot of good gyms and a lot of Thai and foreigners living in Thailand that buy in Thailand …. U don’t need to bring it but as the Thais say. Up to u
I travel to Phuket 3 times a year and stay for 2 months a time from the US and have packed containers of protein powder, creatine, glutamine, amino’s as well as a variety of other supplements including vitamins. I’ve read other comments saying just buy them in Thailand however I like the brands that I’ve been taking and they don’t sell them in Thailand. I’ve had no problems as some of my luggage has been searched as they always leave a notice in your luggage if it has been searched.
That brand they sell all over Thailand. I could only find one seller with good quality whey protein powder without artificial sweeteners or colors and it was expensive.

Why do people always want to bring a bunch of stuff to Thailand? It's a modern country, you can buy anything there.
Wrong. Medicinal prescription skin ointments I use are not available in Thailand. "Breathe Right" stickies not available in Thailand (useless knock off's from Lazada). Etc.
my experience is the opposite, there are a ton of things that I can’t find, or are difficult to find, or have very limited selection, or are of poor quality.
do you understand what you’re saying? Pre workout and whey protein is sold in gyms around Thailand and no doubt shops. So can you tell me how it’s forbidden?
I never said it's forbidden . If it's sold throughout Thailand tell me whi wants to carry 2kg through borders and through custols .
Obviously you are completely ignorant about laws regarding customs in Thailand . Just keep doing what ever you think you know . I do'nt give a ****
In case you're not aware , paracetamol is sold everywhere in Thailand , and it's sold all over the world without prescriptions ! Do you know you're not allowed to take it through thai borders !??🤣🤣🤣🤣 you smart a$$ !
why are you being so rude? You’re a grown man clearly brought up with zero Manners! Being a keyboard warrior make you feel important does it? If you can read you will see I’ve not told him to take his protein I just stated that i took my pre- workout with me and I know many people who take there supps with them too! Supplements in Thailand are extremely expensive. Now get some manners you wanker

I wouldn’t bother. Just buy it over there

Put it in condoms and swallow it just in case. Not worth the hassle taking it in the luggage and getting checked.

Just buy it when you get there .

Just don't hide your drugs in the middle. You'll be asking for trouble

No problem at all. They may swab test but I’ve never had to go through that in S.E. Asia. Yes, protein powder is more expensive here and you won’t get the discounts you may be used to.

Thats like the weirdest thing you are trying to smuggle into Thailand 😂

Put it into 1g baggies and swallow it. You'll be fine
it's Thailand. They're more suspicious if you're not sweating. I need to Google what 2kg of protein powder rupturing in a stomach does to the sweat glands
also, I'd just like to point out,.in case my parents are reading this, I have no idea what I'm referencing but I probably learnt it watching Grange Hill and they were right all along

Also, unless you're British of a certain age you're not going to get that reference either but I can assure you, it was very funny
