Will I face issues leaving Thailand if I overstay my visa by 5 days for a vipassana retreat?

ORIGINAL POSTER
I've just gotten confirmation to attend a vipassana retreat while I'll be in Chiang Mai- however, with the way the dates are set up, it will mean I overstay my permitted visa by 5 days. Should I have any trouble on my way out as long as I'm willing to pay the 2,500 overstay fee?
