Will booking a hotel in Bangkok affect my extension under consideration based on marriage?

Hi, a couple of things, I'm currently in the middle of my one month, under consideration extension to stay stamp (based on marriage), due to report back to immigration in a few weeks. All good apart from the fact that I'll be in Bangkok then (unavoidable) and need to book/check in to a hotel before that date. The hotel will then do the TM30 registration, will this bugger up the extension process? I'm considering getting the Mrs to book it, but it will make no difference if they ask me for my ID when I check in (on my own). Also, as I'm away my Lawyer says I can leave my passport with her to get it stamped? that would be nice as it would save me having to travel all the way back to Samui, but I'm not sure that's normal practice, or her having a 'mate' at immigration - I don't want to take any chances, any solid advice would be much appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is concerned about their current 30-day extension under consideration for a marriage visa while needing to stay in Bangkok. They wonder if booking a hotel and the TM30 registration process will impact their extension and if their lawyer can handle passport stamping during their absence. Responses indicate that changing location will not affect the extension process as long as proper procedures are followed. However, it is advised to check directly with the immigration office to clarify the passport stamping protocol.

I was told in Prachinburi by the IO do not travel during the in consideration period

This was 4 months ago

They came to the house unannounced and then a few days later they called and wanted us to bring in our US marriage license translated into Thai even though we provided our Thai Marriage license at the time we applied

they were just blowing smoke up your backside. You can travel all you want during that 30 day under consideration stamp (even outside the country IF you have a re-entry permit).

Hang about, I meant that staying in another province will not affect the extension process regarding a TM.30 filed by where ever you're staying.

I dunno if you can have someone show up on the return date for the under consideration stamp and get the passport stamped without you being there.

That's between you and the immigration office BUT I sure wouldn't take my lawyer's word for it :O I'd mosey on over to the immigration office BEFORE you're leaving and ask for yourself.

ah yes, that was the other concern 🙂 I’ll do that to cover my bases. I agree taking their word for it is not a good idea. I’ve found their information to be out of date/incorrect at times. All about the $. If I see you in Bangkok maybe I can buy you a beer 🙂

It's NOT going to affect the under consideration process at all. You'll get the rest of your extension when you report to your immigration office on the appropriate date.

Does Samui Immigration make house visits during this month?
