TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing difficulties in extending their tourist visa in Thailand, specifically due to the requirement for TM30 registration which necessitates having the accommodation owner present at the immigration office. As the user travels frequently and switches accommodations every few days, they seek advice on how to comply with this requirement while still being able to explore Thailand. Community responses highlight the importance of TM30 registration, suggesting that users either stay at hotels that will file the TM30 for them, utilize visa agents, or find accommodations that can provide the necessary documentation efficiently. Some users share their own experiences of successfully obtaining extensions by ensuring their hotels were compliant with registration.

Welcome to the new tourist Thailand if you stay in a hotel the hotel must make the TM30 for you if you rent a condo the agent job is to make the TM30 for you

and last and most important is

if the immigration officer was drunk the day before or is drunk now

Register your first hotel to get the visa extension, then you can move around the country, and when you book in the other hotels, the staff will register you with the Local Office. Just as a precaution, get a letter of travel written out from the departure hotel that you stayed in before going on to the next hotel, and so on, just in case you get stopped by the Covid Cops.

It is the law in Thailand that all foreigners must register where they live be it 5 days or 30 days. You will have to go to a visa agent, pay them their fee to register your address and then have them apply for your 30 day extension. Your lucky you weren't fined 1600 baht like my friend for failing to file his airbnb. Now if your hopping around staying at hotels those hotels will file your residence status at immigration for you. This is the case of pay up or leave, you try to save yourself a few bucks your more than likely be told to pay up and leave. Now you can also pay a bit extra and get 60 days added to your visa if you want to stay a bit longer.

Just find a hotel that does the TM30. I had to walk around Chiang Rai to find a hotel that would do it for me. Took a screenshot of the submission and it was easy the next day at immigrstion. Be sure to get a printout or screenshot.

it's not about prove of accommodation it's about the place you're staying registering your guestname on their address.

It's guesthouse that needs to do, otherwise they avoid taxes

You also have to fill out an address on the extension form and it needs to match with the address of the guest house that registered you

Also your application at immigration should be same district/province as your address registration.

So can not stay in Pai (Mae Hong son) and ask extension in Chiang Mai, it's not same district

A 1 night stay somewhere is enough. Just ask at check for TM30 registration. It's mandatory and they can do online

You might totally be not aware of this because the landlords or guest house needs to provide this not the guest. It's called tm30 and sometimes when you rent a house you can get asked for a screenshot which you can get from your landlord

If you are planning to head to Koh Samui during your travels I would suggest just heading over here now. I got an extension sorted within an hour and a half and didn’t need to provide any accommodation.

And if you don't have it some immigration offices like Chiang Mai charge you 1600 baht fine for not being registered within 24 hours of your arrival in that dwelling. Most immigration offices only charge 800 baht fine if you aren't registered in the TM30 system. It should be the landlord that is fined but most immigration officers will fine the tenant because the tenant is standing in front of them and wants the visa extention

Not fair on the guest house or hotel you pretend to be staying at. Some have been fined for not registering guests who did not stay at their premises but had used their guesthouse name and address at immigration when applying for an extension

a regrettable possibility that l am prepared to risk because l simply will never comply with what they ask. Which is unreasonable IMHO. Please note, l always use the same fake addresses and have been for many years and not one has ever reported any trouble. I am honest with them about what l am doing and it's never been a problem (sorry once l was refused)

Ah...so you have told them you are staying with a friend? I check into a place for one night. Show the receipt and infer that's my permanent address. I have given up trying to explain to them l constantly travel and am never in one place more than a few days. I know one immergration that is one of those that seems not to care.

I have used it constantly over the years and never been questioned. PM me for it's name if you want it.

Just check in at a normal hotel, tell them to register you on the immigration website asap, because you have to go to immigration. And then go get your address note and extension.

I'm not sure if we are all referring to the TM30? Immigration has gotten very strict and demands a TM30 since the beginning of Covid.

of course it will work. That is the whole point of it the hotel registers you online. You go to immigration and fill in a TM7 Application to stay form. The details match, bingo you get a 30 day extension.

If you are at a hotel each hotel has to register you with local Government immigration office they will produce a pre TM 30 for you at hotel stating you are staying there yiu then take this to collect your official TM30 of proof at immigration office to apply for extension

They’re asking for a filed TM30 no doubt. If you’re staying in a hotel they’ll file one online. Ask them for a screenshot of their filing. That should suffice.
