Should I return to Chiang Mai to close my Covid visa extension under consideration, or can I go to Bangkok immigration instead?

Hi. I applied for a Covid extension in Chiang Mai and they gave me an under consideration stamp which says I must return 'to this office in person' on 19th March. In the meantime we have come to Bangkok to organise my girlfriend's work permit. This is taking longer than expected (due to a cancelled visa application from the Madrid embassy showing on her record - which needs to be expunged) so we're staying another week in the Marriott in Bangkok, and then we intend to go to Phuket.

I was intending to fly up to Chiang Mai, get my visa extension and then fly back down to Bangkok the same day - then go to Phuket. But I'm now worried that the Marriott hotel will have logged a TM30 that I'm here now and so Chiang Mai will turn me away!

Can I/ should I go to Bangkok immigration instead in order to get my Covid extension? Or should I go back to Chiang Mai?

And/ or maybe I need to stay one night in a place in Chiang Mai and have them log a TM30 there for me again?!

Thank you so much for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is advised to return to Chiang Mai to close the under consideration stamp for their Covid visa extension, as no other immigration office can process this particular request. They do not need additional documents beyond their passport to complete this process.

They won't look at anything when you go back to close the loop on the under consideration stamp and get the covid extension. Take your passport and the blue-green receipt you got when you applied and show up on that date. You'll be fine.

If you go to the immigration office to close the under consideration stamp of covid extension, usually no documents are required other than your passport. All requirements documents are for an application unless you are instructed specifically to bring any documents including TM30 receipt when you go to close the under consideration stamp.

And only the immigration office that issued your under-consideration extension can close that stamp.

So, you can close your under consideration stamp only at CM immigration office. And you don't need TM 30 receipt to close it.

For make it sure, call to CM immigration office if you need TM30 receipt for that.

Good point...The immigration office will only want to see his passport.

You were instructed to return to Chiang Mai on March 19 and CLOSE OUT the UNDER CONSIDERATION stamp in your passport.

Do as instructed. No other immigration office will accept a new application for an extension....nor can they CLOSE OUT the UNDER CONSIDERATION stamp

That is what you need to do.
