I have account in K Bank. I tried to increase the transfer limit from 50k TB on the bank app.But would not let me. I called to KBank today to ask them to increase it. Was told 50,000tb is maximum transfer for all foreigners. Anyone else have this problem. I don't have same issue with Bangkok bank.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the frustrations of expats with K Bank's strict transfer limits, which are reportedly capped at 50,000 Baht for foreigners. Multiple users shared their experiences, indicating that this limit does not apply to Thai citizens, who can reportedly transfer larger amounts without difficulty. The issues are linked to recent changes in banking policies aimed at combating fraud, requiring foreign account holders to undergo face scans and calling the bank's center for temporary limit increases. Users also noted that other banks, like Bangkok Bank, do not impose the same limitations on foreign clients.

I have a KBank account and my transfer limit was reset down to 50K. But I increased it in the app with no problems last week. I did need to use face verification scans both tobincrease the limit and then for each transfer over 50k (I setup the face scan in the bank branch some time ago).

@Geoff *********
I just tried to change the limits via the app and it won't let me go over 50k... Ridiculous.
Bobby *********
Chinese scammers messed up banking for foreigners in two years time.

Anything over 50,000 you have to do a face scan and this as to be set up in branch. I got a message to call in my branch to update and do a face scan for my mobile app. The teller then told me if a need to go above 50,000 baht I'd have to verify with a face scan
Stuart *********
@Gary *********
Yep but that only works for Thai nationals at this stage.
Dror *********
@Stuart ********
thats not what call center of kbank told me they said go to the branch face scan then call the call center to get temporary new higher limit for 30 days and every 30 days call again i go tomorrow

I called about 2 hours ago

@Dror ********
I have a kbank account and when you go into a branch they will attempt to set it up but it will be flagged by the system and state it can't be activated when trying to increase limit above 50k, the only way to transfer more than 50k right now is to call and have them temporarily increace the limit for a few hours.
Dror *********
@เดแคลน **********
but to me call center cant do that they told me to go to branch and i need my limit changed for the debit and not app
Stuart *********
@Dror ********
Ok. As mentioned earlier I couldn’t confirm other banks policies only my own.

Ok. Couple of things here to keep in mind. The OP isn’t trying to transfer funds INTO their Thai bank. They are trying to transfer more than 50k from their bank to someone else’s.

This is a newish rule that doesn’t affect only K Bank but most. It has something to do with the facial recognition system the banks are using to allow transfers over 50k. This system doesn’t yet support use by foreigners.

Different banks have implemented different policies to get around this. My bank SCB used to have you go into the branch to sign a waiver that you’d allow transfers over that amount. Last month they said that would no longer work and you’d have to called their call centre to override the limit for a set period of time.

I’m sure other banks have similar systems in place rather than you actually having to go into a branch to transfer - but I can’t confirm this as I don’t have account with others.

SCB have said they are working on a “workaround” but haven’t got there yet.

If Bangkok Bank haven’t implemented this yet I’m sure they will soon. Perhaps not but we will have to wait and see.

50 k limit on their internet banking app
Peter ****************
Two things have to be correct with K-bank: 1. Registered phone number name/passport number has to match the registered bank account. 2. You need to go to a branch for a face scan.
Dror *********
@Peter ***************
all ok for me but only thing is face thing which i was never asked to do since 2023 wheb opened my account
Peter ****************
Max *************
@Peter ***************
That doesn't change the fact that 50k is the transfer limit. I have registered for the facial recognition crap and my personal info is correct.
Peter ****************
@Max ************
K-bank:

Click 3 dots 'More'

Choose 'Change transaction limits',

Choose ''My account' under Debit ATM Cards.

Now you can change e.g. spending limits etc.

I just told you it doesn't work. Maybe it does daytime.

Yep, happened to me a couple days ago. I can’t increase more than 50,000. My Thai wife tried her app and was able to increase hers. She set it at 500,000 with no problem.
Max *************
@Gerg *********
Really, your wife could change the transfer limit in KBanks app to 500k? I have a hard time believing that because there shouldn't be any differences between a Thai and a foreigner as long as facial recognition has been registered at KBank.
Gerg **********
@Max ************
She definitely did change it to 500,000 baht. The 50,000 baht limit is only for foreigners.

It is a new regulation. Krungthai is also the same. If you want to make a transaction more than 50K , you will need to visit their branch and transfer money with your passport at a teller. There have been stricter controls and changes in bank policies due to recent scams.

you can get a physical debit card or virtual card that number changes every time. Do your transfer from the card to pay. You can build up the fund to the card. You can pay in different currency including Thai baht.

it only applies to mobile banking transfers. The daily transaction limit for visa/master card payments are not revised yet. I think you can make visa card payments up to 500K per day. The amount differs from bank to bank and types of card.
Dror *********
@Mg *******
incorrect spending limit for my debits is only 20,000 and cant be changed call center said go do biographic photo update and wait 2 calender days what a load of bull i got money want to buy something and i cant

@Mg *******
wrong i checked spending limit for my debits all is on 20,000

When you try edit it will say maximum 500,000 but if you even try to put 21,000 it says contact k center which they said to go update biographic photo
Max *************
@Mg *******
There's a spending limit for a debit card in KBanks app. The default limit is just 20k but "it should" be possible to change.Some changes must be done in a branch.

Dear also to me, I use to have limit of 200k, but few months ago reduced to 49.900 a month. The funny think was that last month I had to fight with call center because limit was reduce to 1000 a day, then bank told me to bring passport a bank book( I not understood why always we have to pruve our identity on our account) to ask to increase again, two day and went back to 49.900 baht a day. So, isn't only you, might be reason that we don't know , but I think can transfer , not by scan, bank to bank account with no limit, otherwise if someone wants to buy a car, for example, for is gonna buy with 49.900 baht? For more clarification, go bank or give a phone call to the call center.
