TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on experiences with banking issues related to Kasikorn Bank following the receipt of a visa in Thailand. While some users reference problems primarily with Bangkok Bank, others suggest that issues are emerging across various banks, including Kasikorn, especially for new accounts that may not have established histories. It is advised to maintain a minimum balance to avoid account closures and related complications.
Yes leave the min before you get money charges, leave at least B3000 imo, it won’t be stolen, it would be refunded, in the event of account closure (obviously if the account has been closed for any alleged suspicious transactional activity, you may have to prove with certain monies originated from etc.
I really think they should allow all DTV holders a bank account and a debit card, I’m sure they understand it helps that person spending money in the local economy without unnecessary restrictions.🤷🏾♀️

This agent and many others have opened 1000s of accounts illegally by paying bribes at BB. It's not hard to see why this is being cracked down on.

Many other banks are already freezing accounts. SCB, Kasikorn, Krungsri etc.

It's coming to all banks. Like the "Anti money laudering" nonsense we have to endure in the UK.
Remember, the central banks control everything the world over. Once you realise that, what happens tends to unfortunately add up.
But what this means for getting visa approval in Thailand is the problem.
The AML and need for CRS & KYC is different to the scamming account issue. This was coming to Thailand already when they signed up to it when applying for OECD membership.

Kasikorn is safe if you have extensive history with the bank, as for newer accounts those will possibly face scrutiny

No it’s coming to all banks . I had a long chat with the bank manager yesterday
My bank manager says differently. I very much doubta lowly branch manager at either of our banks has the inside track of what is happening. The branch managers at BB had no warning of HQ decisions.

Anonymous participant 797 I love these warriors behind anon names . I was at the. Ami yesterday knob ! My information is here to help people . Get a life .
I've talked to Thais working in banking sector and it's only Bangkok bank + sus overseas transactions. Stop spreading BS. The only problem is with opening new bank accounts as they tighten the regulations
You have an O visa and cannot open an account in CM? Where have you tried? Go to Krungsri in Maya Mall. They have a list of requirements. You can open one on a O retirement . Need Res Cert and 2 forms of Photo Id.
there's NO problem for those who have a Non O Visa opening up a Thai bank account. Obtain the Certificate of Residence from your local Thai Immigration office and with the PROOF of your Non O Visa, go to a Thai bank and open the bank account.
you know what . Im done with this group . I have had 3 successful visas applications approved and have set up a
Life here and my attention was to assist people . But I don’t have to deal with the keyboard warrior losers in this group that hide behind anon accounts .
