I have a banking problem and would like to ask if anyone can give me guidance. Today my Krungsri branch in Pranburi told me that from October 1st on foreigners are not allowed to transfer money from their Krungsri FCD (Foreign Currency Deposit, mine is in Euro) account to their Krungsri THB account. They told me to withdraw Baht from Krungsri ATMs with FCD service ( in Pranburi there's only one) and then pay them into my THB account which of course is suboptimal. Anybody knows a way around this? Will other banks still allow FCD to BTH transfers? Any ideas would be sincerely appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is facing a banking issue where Krungsri has restricted money transfers from Foreign Currency Deposit (FCD) accounts to Thai Baht accounts starting from October 1st. They are looking for alternative solutions. Commenters suggest options like using transferring services such as Wise or opening accounts with other banks, including Bangkok Bank, which reportedly has fewer restrictions. The conversation also touches on the broader context of changes in banking practices in Thailand.
The best thing for the time being is to withdraw TBH from any krungsri atm (30.000 is the limit) then either keep the cash or deposit them in any bank. Until things settle down . My Thai wife told me not to leave money in the bank. Thai people are all withdrawning cash as seen on fb.
Welcome to the the goalpost change in the far east! In theory a great place to rest your hat, but on a whim the rules change and you will be jumping through hoops to platitude their changes! Consider the Philippians Islands
Can you have your pension paid to an AUD account in Wise? Then send to your THB account, though I’ve heard sending to Krungsri might be limited to 50k per transaction (but can send multiple times) — I might be mistaken about the limit
Sorry, but I'm Austrian. Anyway, thanks for your time and your thorough research. Austrian bureaucracy is horrible and doesn't leave me a way out of my dilemma. Thanks a lot and all the best.
Difficolt to answer to your issue, they areaking life difficolt. If I understood your point, I advice you to open account in thai baht , so you can transferring .
Sorry if my post is confusing. I have a Baht account, they just won't have foreigners transfer into it from the FCD. I've been Krungsri customer for nearly ten years and until now everything worked well (just the usual temporary glitches but no serious problems).
Sorry to hear that. I think that's only the beginning. Unfortunately it's usual in Thailand to deny any responsibility and blame the foreigners. By the way, Krungsri's Japanese parent company MUFG is in trouble and the Thai NPLs won't help.
It certainly would. But could you trust other Thai banks? They are all controlled by the "deep state" (sorry, can't define it more exactly because of the defamation laws). Best idea would be to leave your money in your home country.
No I don't. That's why I have the FCD account in Euro where I get my pension in Euros. From FCD I can exchange Baht whenever the rates seem good. It certainly beats a bulk transfer of Euro 2,000 in BTH at the beginning of every month.
