Anyone get asked for a hired amount than needed for their DTV visa? Washington DC has asked for a bank statement with 550,000 thai baht (16k usd)

I fly to Bali next week and was trying to get this visa approved before leaving. Due to my pay schedule, I can't increase the savings account until after I'm in bali to accurately reflect the amount they want. 

Should I just go to Jakarta while in Bali and apply there, or are they asking for the 550,000 thai baht rather than the 500,000 thai baht.

Best policy is to always have the cash in your account. Most of the time, they tell you to shove your monthly income up your Azz! Sucks to tie up soo much capital in a dead account. But as the saying goes "you gotta pay to play". Or rather leave your money for dead in a .25% interest account.

The visa requirements are backwards. They don’t care about income they just want to see the 500k in a bank account so theoretically you could be unemployed. It’s a remote worker visa surely evidence of income is all they should need. I’m a remote worker and earn 90k baht per month but because I don’t have 500k just floating there I can’t get the visa. It’s pure bs and penalises a lot of remote workers meaning legit long term visas are STILL out of reach for the majority. And they wonder why people abuse the tourist visas.

I think it would be more problematic to show a minimum monthly income as they would probably require a very high and consistent amount. Easier to get 500K and show that.

"You can't always get what you want"

The 500k is kind of a "insurance", to cover your living, and other issues, if you lose your regulary income.

Like with all other long term visas.

Why should "Digital Nomads" are an exception. Those jobs can be finished even quicker, as any other job.

A ridicilous amount of 500k Baht for a 5 year year visa on a foreign bank account account (lol), and the winging starts right away.

only the US wants 16K,

apply for the DTV in Jakarta (there is no consulate open in Bali)

The Thai Consulate in Jakarta is not a hard core consulate at all and they only want the 500k
