Next week I am gonna apply in Jakarta and wanted to summarize all documents.

After the process I will share a detailled explanation about my experience there.

I will hand over in an ENVELOPE:

- Visa Application form

- 2 passphotos 3.5*4.5

- 5.6 Million IDR in cash

- INTRODUCTION LETTER applying for DTV workcation category, confirming can work remotely,

explaining my work, mentioning employer, position, salary and ability to take care of myself and my keen interest to live in Thailand

- REMOTE WORKING CONTRACT - employee can preform their duties remotely from any location abroad with wet stamp and signature from both parties

- 1 PAYSLIP from 1.10.24 (started to work for US Company with 1.09.24)

- BANK STATEMENTS: transfered savings from brooker and other accounts over 14k € a few days ago to wise account. On 1.10.24 first salary receivement, usually had just a few hundreds or thousands € on Account over the last couple month, provide 1-2 months statements

- PROOF OF CURRENT LOCATION: AIRBNB in Jakarta, receipt and pdf for visa purposes

-TRAVEL INSURANCE - it is mentioned in contract and supports the ability to support myself

I am from Germany, 2024 have been in Thailand for more than 180 days. More or less since 15.3 (with border runs and short travels) - stamp expiration 18.10

I have a rental Agreement(in Thailand) from 01.09.24 - open end.

In the remote working contract, which I signed in August, I have my current Thai address in - could ask for change, if necessary.

Any recommendations or adjustments? Appreciate any kind of help 🙏🏽

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to apply for a DTV workcation visa in Jakarta and has outlined a detailed list of documents they'll submit, including their visa application form, photos, cash, various letters and contracts, payslips, bank statements, proof of location, and travel insurance. They seek recommendations on their document preparation and express concerns about working remotely for a foreign company while on a tourist visa in Thailand. Other community members provide advice on the document requirements, mention specific embassy guidelines, and suggest strategies for not raising issues related to their current visa status.

Regarding the work contract,

Why don’t you think that you can say that you were already working remotely for a foreign company (obviously outside of Thailand) even if on a tourist visa ?

As the DTV is pretty new what could they say ?

Also going to apply next week ☺️

Good luck to us

I’m bringing 2 copies of everything. Here is what I am bringing:

Pretty confident we need:

- Bank printout (not statement) of 120 days with 500k at the end.

- Letter from company saying can work overseas: Googled and used a template. I also bought a stamp on lazada with the ‘seal’ requirements I found on google.

- Bunch of passport photos: Used a passport photo generator and will print out an A4 worth.

- Form pre-filled, except a few parts: “visa type”, “gurantor” and signature. I’m not signing the: “I will not do any form of work” and the local guarantor not sure if we need. Also: “where is your passport accepted is just straight weird” but anyway.

- Passport Copy

- Company registration certificate (Had to pay ASIC - Australian Government $30)

Don’t think it’s needed but am brining (also two copies):

- Bank statements dating back

to 01st Jan.

- Portfolio: Printout of upwork, linkedin account and company website: I made two different versions.

- Employment Contract: Wrote myself by google: Will put the stamp (seal).

- Insurance copy.

- Visa for indonesia copy.

- Hotel Booking.

- return flights in indonesia.

- Lease in thailand with supporting ID’s & Receipts that immigration ask for.

- Company share structure with me as managing director and sole shareholder (ASIC - Australian Government)

I might bring:

- Crypto Statement from binance & coinbase - I emailed and said: “I will have to transfer the balance in from crypto so balance would just be for the day or two before, is that okay? They didn’t say explicitly no to accepting crypto, but said to have a bank balance, so assume no, so have transferred out. They also didn’t say it’s a problem the balance wasn’t there

for the 3-6 months. Which is a good sign. I don’t think bringing this is necessary and I also don’t want to share this if I don’t need to.

- Company bank statement: Don’t really want to give them this. So only if they ask.

Do they specifically ask for the cash up front, or upon approval?

I'd hold the cash separately and wait till they ask about it or answer you if they need it along with the application.

@Wannikea ********
Looks like they want the money up front...

P.S.: Quite cheap... just 12k... :-)

@Stephan **********
hopefully they peruse the documents as they are handed in and either accept as complete or comment and decline if something is missing or incomplete.

And in remote working contract is my Thai address, should I change that to german one?

yes, out of my perspective I should have everything. The only concern is - since 01.09 I am working for US company and I am on Tourist Visa in Thailand, is this ok? I could add a sentence like "I am applying for DTV as a step towards aligning with thai immigration laws, with the intention to formalize my stay, continue working remotely under the appropriate visa category"...
Stephan ***********
@Cristiano *******
Nah... I wouldn't do that... it implies that you are working (from) here already and that you know that it is actually illegal.

There is no need to "formalize" your stay if you are just a tourist. So... does your paperwork show in any way that you are "on duty" already for this company from here? If not... Never wake a sleeping tiger... 😉

I mean, they can see the stamps(that I was in Thailand in the last couple month) and agreement date in remote working agreement is 01.09, so actually they know. But I could ask to get a contract from 01.10, instead of 01.09, so it would just have been 15 days...better or not necessary?

@Cristiano *******
Okay... just my two cents now... pure rhetoric... you might think about it...

The embassies and consulates are under the authority of the Foreign Ministry, immigration is part of the police. Means, in principle they are two more or less independent authorities. So... now you could assume that the employee in the embassy is not really interested in what you (may have) done here, but of course you can't rule it out.

Personally, I would try not to give them any reason to think too much about the start of the contract and my entry and so on. Remember the tiger...? 😉

So if you assume that the employee in the embassy might find something strange, re-dating the contract would be the best option here... as close as possible to the date of the visa application.
