TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about applying for a DTV visa from India but faces challenges due to the embassy's requirement of maintaining 500,000 THB for six months. They explore the possibility of applying through the Hong Kong Thai e-visa portal, where the local embassy seems to have different requirements regarding residency. Comments clarify that maintaining the 500,000 THB is a primary condition for the DTV visa, regardless of the embassy of application. Furthermore, the Hong Kong embassy primarily caters to residents, and suggestions indicate that applicants should verify their eligibility and possibly consider the VFS route for application.

No! Just for HK and MO residents.

You do have to keep the bt500,000+ in the bank. You can't withdraw it all once you get the visa. It is not publicized how they will enforce this yet, but they will.

first mention of this I’ve seen

which bank? Any bank? Or thai bank

500K of Thai baht is primary condition to apply for DTV, if you cannot meet this condition, you are not qualified wherever Thai Consulate you apply.

nope in india thai embassay consulate asking to maintain the balance for six months

During the seminar, the Thai immigration said that the rules / regulations to consider "proof of 500k Thai Baht" shall be subject to each of Thai consulate. Anyway, those who were granted DTV must update his/her 500K Thai baht upon extension.

maybe you should READ again what the threadstarter posted . . . . . . the MfA deputy minister said in an interview, that you have to show 500.000.- THB in your bank account or in any other funds. But NOWHERE he stated that you have to show that the 500.000.- THB need to have been sitting in your account for 6 months, which is the issue the threadstarter met with the Thai Embassy in his home country

my understanding if you look at the small print you must prove your able to support yourself sufficiently.

Yes, you are right. DTV is just released in order to boost tourism in Thailand and the government wants to make sure that those tourists are able to spend in Thailand rather than those who just come to Thailand to get the jobs.

get the jobs? They have to prove they already have work outside Thailand
Kornvara ************
@John *******
There's lots of foreigner who try to get into Thailand and look for a job such as English teacher, cook and so much more, those are not qualified but try to get the loops to stay in Thailand

nothing to do with this scenario

E Visa is based on passport

Not on location

As i am also applying

We need to go through vfs route
Garrett ***********
@Goel *******
That's not correct, it's location not passport.
John *******
@Goel *******
you can’t apply via Hong Kong’s e-visa portal if you are not physically in Hong Kong. You can scam the system, but risk getting caught
Goel ********
@John ******
no i mean even if u go to Hong Kong for certain passport holders evisa is not allowed
John *******
@Goel *******
- Yes, so embassies only allow residents and citizens of that geographic area to apply (most of the Thai embassies in Europe are like that).
Graham ******
@Goel *******
eVisa is based on location i.e. the country you are applying from if they use the eVisa system

@Graham *****
I’m applying in LA next week from NY. I am British
Goel ********
@Graham *****
its not a combination of passport and location sir

Only on passport

I have already tried

@Goel *******
You can only apply for a e-visa where you psychically is located when you apply no matter what you passport says. E-visa was initiated during Covid so people physically didn’t need to visit the embassy/consulate where they were located.
Graham ******
@Goel *******
But you said not on location

The Hong Kong embassy website says you must be a resident to apply, but the embassy seems to be allowing foreigners to apply as well.

You would need to travel to Hong Kong first in order to apply though.
