Applying for DTV in Penang Malaysia sucks! I have been there twice now and they want me to come back again tomorrow and couldn’t even give me a straight answer. I have all the documents and they said that bank statement needs to be certified and that I need more documents but won’t say what.

What are my options now? In terms of places I can fly to and get a better service.

Update: the price is RM 1600 = $368 rather than the 10,000 = $296 that it is supposed to be.

at least for medical it was very friendly. All they cared about was sufficient bank balance and a single medical appointment.

I will make sure I actually have a appointment when I arrived. Although the visa itself just say DTV, pretty sure immigration can see it was based on medical

Enjoy Jakarta, underrated city to explore. And great food scene

Good morning. For the DTV for medical, does the treatment need to be long term and for a specific duration? Is there a requirement for number of appointments per week/month. Thank you

@David ***
i did it a couple weeks ago. All I had was a initial consultation with neurosurgeon at a well known hospital in Bangkok.

I applied Monday morning, picked up my passport with approved visa on Thursday afternoon. Price was 5,600,000 IDR (cash only)

I tried for remote working in NL before i came to Jakarta. That was annoyingly difficult, didn’t have time for that bull…My contract states remote work, and despite me being a global manager, they kept asking for “official letter confirming remote work. I even did a self declaration that wasn’t accepted.

i would like to get this information for my Boyfriend too, thanks

I can personally recommend HMC, Vietnam (not Hanoi). Laos was my 1st choice.

Check for appointments 1st. I went to Vietnam as the wait was too long for appointment in Laos.

Know people have had difficulties in Malaysia and Cambodia…

Good luck!

@Clare *****************
- I had no difficulties with Cambodia. Was pretty straight forward, but cost $400

@John ******
good to hear as I met people in HMC that had tried in Phnom Penh.

Believe it’s a longer processing time - how many days did it take you?
John *******
@Clare *****************
Yes, it is longer. 6 days. What issues did they have in Phnom Penh. Curious if I was somehow an anomaly.
Clare ******************
@John ******
I’m not sure of the specifics. Sorry.

Clare Aschan Guinness thank you, Malaysia is making it extremely difficult.

Taipei or jakarta are good options. No appointments necessary. Taipei takes one or two days to issue the DTV (I did mine there). Jakarta is supposedly 3 biz days

... would you mind telling if yours was remote worker or soft power , if soft power which one and when you applied thanks Jared

@Michael ******
I did remote worker. I applied last Wednesday and received it on Thursday.

I emailed before flying there to confirm that I could apply even though I'm not a Taiwan resident. They confirmed. They did have some questions about my paperwork and also asked if I was in Taiwan just for this. (Got the feeling that this might become an issue in the future... )

Jared Elliott thnx for sharing; did you have to show a certified bank statement like these ppl in Malaysia are asking for?
Helen ********
@Patrick *************
apparently other embassies are starting to request certified statements. Someone was denied in Laos because the translated bank statement and another document were not notarized. There was another individual in the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) was also having issues with the embassy in KL. I'd double check the embassy site for Taipei and Jakarta to make sure they haven't tightened up requirements before you go.
