I am arriving on a Tourist Visa (60d) and want to get an extension later during my stay. My first 2 nights will be in a hotel, while I look for an apartment.
Am I required to do the TM30 registration? If don`t do it will that make a problem for me when I do the 30d extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you arrive in Thailand on a Tourist Visa and plan to extend your stay, it's important to know about the TM30 registration. The TM30 is typically filed by your hotel or landlord, so you personally do not have to submit it. However, some immigration offices may request proof of TM30 when you apply for an extension, particularly in areas like Bangkok. Therefore, it's advisable to ensure your landlord is aware of their responsibility to register you to avoid any issues during the extension process.
I have never had to show the TM30 in Bangkok. A lease contract has been sufficient so far. However this was 4yrs ago. A workaround could be to book a cheap hostel for a night. I am leaning more heavy on using an agent for extensions these days since the trips to Wattana is time consuming.
You don't do TM30. Your hotel or landlord does it.
Each immigration office requires different things for extension. They might ask for proof of TM30 and they might not. If they ask, they only care about where you're staying when you apply, not the past.
Alright, I have never done a TM30 and never had a problem with extensions before. Just wanted to check if something changed in that regard. Thanks for the help!
