TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent discussions indicate that the Thai government has approved a visa waiver for Chinese and Kazakhstani tourists starting September 25, which will last for six months. Comments highlight the ease of obtaining a stay extension for Europeans, suggesting minimal government intervention is needed. Additionally, there are calls for improving air travel costs and streamlining the visa extension process to enhance tourist experiences.
Perhaps the president of the tourism association should be talking to Bangkok Airways who hold the flight monopoly for Samui about dropping their prices, and maybe getting the immigration office to make an extension of stay a 15-minute process (which in reality that's all it is). Then there would be no need to change anything. Just another pie-in-sky dream
The government doesn't need to do anything. Most Europeans can already stay 60-90 days. They just need to spend 10 minutes on their computer first. If they don't that means they didn't intend to stay that long to begin with.
it’s still a hurdle it’s not just 10 minutes. It’s time to get online, getting the information and documents, waiting. We get a lot of questions in this group. Most people are adverse to these systems. you would be surprised. better to get a stamped in for 60 to 90 days. Many countries have this
