TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discusses the possible removal of the Thailand Pass on June 1st, with various opinions presented. While some believe the pass could linger as a screening tool, others clarify that it does not influence visa categories such as visa on arrival or visa exemptions. The importance of maintaining travel insurance, particularly related to Covid, is emphasized. Overall, there is uncertainty regarding new regulations so soon before the proposed date.

The thai pass has nothing to do with your visa choice..It's all to do with proving your vaccination or otherwise, and proof of covid insurance, before arriving in Thailand.

Nobody knows yet what the new rules will be for June. I think you meant 30 day visa exempt and not visa on arrival as they are totally two very different categories.

TP is very simple to get if you have a vax record and travel insurance, they are approved in a matter of hours, you can do this before buying the plane ticket.

not now the test and go has finished, all you need is a flight number and give an estimate of how long you will stay and an address where you will spend your first night, you don’t need anything booked or confirmed apart from the insurance.

I use an annual uk travel insurance you don’t need Thai insurance but they do recommend one for ฿650 for 30 days.

the latest is insurance of US$10,000 is mandatory. It used to be US$100,000 then brought down to $50,000 then $20,000. Now $10,000 is mandatory

Even if covid insurance disappears. You still need travel insurance which these days most cover covid now anyways .

Your mad if you dont have travel insurance to travel .

TPASS will more than likely stay. It acts as a screening tool for Thailand to keep the riff raff out.

With all the talk of eliminating the ThaiPass, the one thing that has no talk of eliminating is the covid insurance requirement, something very similar to the ThaiPass to verify the tourist has it. Everything else is being talked about removing, except the covid insurance. It will stay.

it not only about covid insurance. You get a health insurance that includes covid cover. Anyone travelling abroad should have health cover, to be fair.

The insurance is mandatory to cover Covid expenses if the tourist gets infected. It's the government's way of protecting themselves or who else is going to pay for the the Covid expenses? So I think that is something that should stay. Just as retirees have to have medical insurance coverage. Thailand is not a free country for medical expenses like how we have back home. But I believe even the US doesn't have adequate medical coverage like Canada e.g.

That has been heavily emphasized the last few days, as covid isn't going away.

There has been mention of the Thailand Pass going away but no one knows when exactly.

But the Thailand Pass has nothing to do with visas.

I assume you mean Visa exempt and not visa on arrival as they are 2 different things, and they're exactly as they were before Covid and have been the same all through Covid.
