I just returned from HCM vietnam, I now have a non-o 1 year visa based on marriage to a Thai. 1 year visa from Feb. 26th 2020 to Feb. 26th 2021. I know with this visa I need to bounce every 90 days, so I'm assuming my first bounce will be May 25th??Also when is a good time to do the year extention of stay? Would it be best to wait until the last 90 days of visa? Thank you all in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the 90-day reporting requirement for their Non-O visa based on marriage, and asks when the best time is to apply for a yearly extension of stay.

Hi
@K**
. Wonder if I could ask a few quick questions about HCM consulate please. The letter from wife. Does it need to be hand written in thai or English? (Any idea where I might find an example?) Also what was the timings? I see on the web site they say 2 working days? If I was dropping off papers on Monday morning. From your experience when would I be picking them up again? Thanks for your time. Neil

hand written is fine, in english or thai. there is no example.

wife's name, DOB, thai id number, is married to husbands name DOB passport number, and requests a visa be issued

drop off one morning, pick up the next working day afternoon

You just went to the trouble (and 200USD expense) to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage where you bounce out and in for the whole year every 90 days. <- doing that you can get 15 months of stay out of that visa.

Why would you suddenly be on the "when should I apply for my year extension bandwagon"?

If you were going to get an extension after a single 90 day entry why didn't you just get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa for 80USD rather than burn the 200USD for the year-multiple?

Be that as it may ;) :

You can apply for a yearly extension by meeting the financial requirements and turning in the correct documentation when you have 30 days or less left on ANY ONE of your 90 day entries on that Non-O visa.

Why not get the 15 months of stay (in 90 day increments) out of the visa you have THEN apply for the extension on that last 90 day entry when you have 30 days or less left on that stamp?

Thank you, stamp was under the departure card and didn't see it... Stamp 28th Feb. To 27th May 2020..thank you, so now I know my first bounce will be 27 may. Thank you. Any advise on when would be good to apply for 1 year extention? Is it best to wait until last 90 days? Or??

Weren't you stamped into Thailand?

Thailand entry stamp has date.

in stead of assuming you might take a look in the passport to the new stamp with day of entry and the Admitted until date.
