Hi experts, we're from UK, on our 1st year in Koh Samui. My husband has Non O-A (retirement) visa with expiry date 14th July. I have Non-O as a trailing spouse with same expiry date. To get our "free" 2nd year can we do a border bounce by either land or air? Also, when we return with new health insurance cover for another 12 months, will we both be stamped in with the new date or will I still get the expiry date of 14th July & I'd have to apply for the trailing spouse extension again? Cheers & a big thank you from all of us that rely & appreciate all your help 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their Non-O visas in Thailand through a border bounce, as their current visas expire on July 14. They wonder if they will be stamped with a new expiration date upon re-entry with updated health insurance, or if the trailing spouse must reapply for an extension. Comments clarify that a border bounce does not grant a 'free' second year for the trailing spouse and that the primary visa holder must exit and re-enter to receive a new entry stamp.

I’ll bet my bottom $ that the original was issued at Samut Prakan. πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚

Sorry. Couldn’t help myself.

nope, you on the Non-O cannot get a "free second year" because you didn't get a free first year πŸ˜›

you got stamped in for 90 days on that Non-O and then bought a year extension at the immigration office for 1900baht based on your spouse's year entry stamp under the "trailing spouse" clause πŸ˜‰

Only the primary visa holder would get another year entry stamp IF they exited/re-entered just before the visa (sticker or PDF) expired and had another year insurance

Once they got that you would need to go to the immigration office like last time and get the "trailing spouse" extension for 1900baht

you won't get any more time (and if you're going too, you'd need a re-entry permit so your current extension doesn't cancel when you stamp out) πŸ˜‰

The primary OA visa holder can exit/re-enter by air or land as long as they have the new insurance policy to show when they stamp back in and as long as they do it before their OA visa (the PDF or sticker) expires
