Hi just after some clarification, Iโ€™m applying from Aust. For a O visa multi entry based on marriage, Iโ€™m 61 if granted I get 90 days stay which I apply in Thailand for 1 year extension, do I then report every 90days and or after a year keep applying for 1 yr extension?

Also the invitation letter can it be written by my wife who is with me in Aust. And will be travelling to Thailand with me?

Yes Iโ€™ve studied the website but itโ€™s not totally clear, cheers for any clarification

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the application process for a Non-O multi-entry visa based on marriage, specifically regarding the 90-day stay, extensions, and reporting requirements. It was explained that if granted a 90-day stay, the user must apply for a one-year extension in Thailand, which involves 90-day reporting. Alternatively, it was suggested that a 90-day single entry visa may be more suitable since the goal is to obtain a yearly extension. Additionally, the user inquired about the invitation letter, which can be written by their wife who will travel to Thailand with them.

If applying for the one year visa its multiple entry, which means you must leave Thailand every 90 days. If your goal is to extend for a year then get the single entry Non O, good for 90 days giving you time to get your funds to Thailand to apply for the one year extension.

single entry means cannot leave Thailand for that year?

DO not confuse getting visas from thai consulates OUTSIDE thailand with getting extensions and re-entry permits from INSIDE thailand at the immigration office. They are completely different things and have nothing much to do with one another..

you will come here, get your year extension and then buy either a single re-entry permit (1000baht) which lets you exit/re-enter ONCE or you can buy a multiple re-entry permit (3800baht) which lets you exit/re-enter all you want for the year your extension is valid.

yes perfect ๐Ÿ‘ also with the application for immigrate 0 spouse visa there is no mention of funds in bank or insurance , is this only required as part of the year extension request?

@Paul ******
if you are getting the Non-O visa from a thai consulate before you come the requirements for that visa category are between you and the consulate you're applying for it at.

SO read the requirements for that visa they have posted.

You need to stop thinking of visas from a consulate outside thailand and extensions inside thailand as being related to each other, they are not

Visas OUTSIDE the country are sold at the embassies/consulates who are run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office

Visas/extensions INSIDE the country are sold at the immigration offices run by the Immigration Division of the Royal Thai Police

Those are two completely different gov't agencies and have nothing to do with one another

no problem it's just comparing visa criteria outside the country to visas/extension criteria inside the country are like comparing apples to durian ๐Ÿ˜›

Good luck with what you're doing you have a sound plan in place (y)

single entry $120 au multiple entry $300 au so take the single and pay I think 2000 baht for permit when needed sounds like the best option for me anyway ๐Ÿ‘

@Paul ******
hang about.. You're confusing a single entry VISA with a multiple entry visa <- the ones you get from the thai consulate in your country,.

We are talking about re-entry permits you BUY INSIDE thailand at the immigration office after you get a yearly extension of stay.

IF you have a single entry visa and come in to thailand buying a re-entry permit isn't gonna add any time to the stamp you get when you entered ๐Ÿ™

@Dave ********
Single means you can enter Thailand and then that visa expires upon entry. What allows you to stay in Thailand is your permission to stay stamp that you receive upon entry, a visa only states the reason for your entry. A multiple entry visa stays active till the actual visa expiry/valid until date.

ok thanks that was next ? As I couldnโ€™t see the difference as if I want to leave with in the year I get a re entry permit anyway thanks for that
Wannikea *********
@Paul ******
a reentry permit can be bought at an immigration office and most international airports to keep your current stamp alive. You can buy a single or multiple entry permit. You must return to Thailand before your permission to stay stamp expires or you lose your current stay status.

IF you intend to apply for a yearly extension inside thailand after your first 90 days there's no sense to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa ๐Ÿ˜• Just get a 90 day single entry instead.

Yes, if you apply for the yearly extension you would then do 90 day reporting and each year you would apply for a new yearly extension
