Hello lovely people

Need some help.

Just looking at Xmas flights and it’s just hiked up quite a bit so planning to leave on 12 December and arrive at bkk on 13 December. My question is, Does the 13th count as day 1 of my stay?

I’m just trying to figure out when I need to leave? I’m looking online and I’ve seen that a 45 day visa free stay is still available till end of 2023, and being that the trip starts before end of 2023, is that gonna be ok or sketchy?

All advice most welcome

Many thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you arrive in Thailand on December 13th, that day counts as day 1 of your stay. Currently, the 45-day visa exemption is no longer available, having ended in March 2023. As a visa-exempt traveler, you would receive a 30-day stamp upon arrival. If you need to stay longer, you can apply for a one-time 30-day extension or consider obtaining a 60-day tourist visa prior to your trip for a simpler process.

There is no 45 day visa exempt anymore . That finished in March 2023 . And yes the day you enter is considered as day 1 regardless what time you entered
Henrik *****
Entering Thailand on visa excempt you can stay 30 days.

Longer than that, the best option is 60 days touristvisa.

Apply at thaievisa.go.th

Often easier to just extend visa exempt by 30 days in country for a total of 60 days and no dealing with embassies

It cost more to extend.

Risk of loosing a whole holiday day, to find, go to and wait at a Immigration office, and need to pay for transportation to.

Better to use a rainy day at home, to apply for a tourist visa.

With 30 + 30 days you will need 2 tickets out of Thailand.

60 days only 1

little or no risk of losing a day for 1900 baht tourist exempt extension. Tends to be very fast and there are over 80 offices nationwide. Quite easy. With 30 plus 30 you don't necessarily need any tickets out of thailand. Just depends on your passport and your looks.

The day you arrive in Thailand counts as day 1.

The 45 day visa exempt ended a LONG time ago. If you arrive without a visa you'll receive a 30 day stamp. You can apply one time for a 30 day extension.

If you want more time than 30 days you should apply for a tourist visa before you depart as it's cheaper than extending in Thailand and easier than going to an immigration office.

@Nongnuch *******
I’ll book a return flight. I’m guessing that’s my proof right?

@Jim *******
if the return flight is within 30 days after the arrival day, that's OK
Nongnuch ********
and that means, that maybe your airline will ask for proof of onward travel within these 30 days, or you will be refused boarding the flight

@Jim *******
you mean you leave on the 10th of January? Okaay. Arriving on 13th of December visa-exempt, you will receive an "admitted stay" stamp until 11th of January
