Hello. we are planning our 4 month trip to Thailand. we get a 60 day visa from home. do you count the day you land in Thailand as day 1? for example, we land on 9 November. is the 10th of November then day no 2? πŸ˜… if our visa expires on a weekend? then I guess we will have to move it forward so that we get an extension of 30 days on a Friday at an immigration office. is that right? πŸ˜… it's a bit of a jungle to find your way around the rules and you don't want to break the rules πŸ˜… thanks in advance for the help

TLDR : Answer Summary
When traveling to Thailand on a 60-day visa, the day of arrival is considered day 1. Therefore, if you arrive on November 9, the following day, November 10, would be day 2. You can apply for a 30-day extension during the last month of your stay, and it is advisable to do so before your visa expires, ideally at an immigration office that is open any day of the week. A visa run to a neighboring country is an option for longer stays.

The day you arrive is day 1

Did you think it's day 0 ? or day 2 ?πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€£

Depending on your local immigration office, you can probably go within the last 30 days to get a 30 day extension of your 60 day tourist visa. Then take a trip to a neighboring country (heck stay a few days) and upon your return to Thailand you will get a 30 day visa exemption assuming your passport is from one of the countries on the exemption list.

When you get your extension do you need to show a revised Outward flight

I suppose immigration could ask you for it but it's highly unlikely.

do you mean a departure from the country after the 90 days?

@Nivi ********
yes

Technically you have to show an Outward Bound flight or bus ticket or something for the first 60 days but when you're going for your extension do you have to have something revised to be at the end of 90

Why Friday? You can go any day they are open.

You can get the extension a few weeks before it expires. They add the 30 days to the Admitted To date not the application date.

Exactly! Don’t wait until the last possible day to apply because if something goes wrong you’re SOL & will have to pay an overstay fee + visa extension.

Are you getting single or multi-entry visa?
