I’m arriving dec 18 on visa exempt. Counting 30 th day is Jan 16. Is this correct, I can fly out on the 16th? Silly question I know but in the past the IO didn’t stamp me in for 30 days . I think he miscounted. I’m buying airline ticket out & don’t want any problems when I return to Thailand 3 weeks later.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can indeed fly out of Thailand on January 16 if you arrived on December 18 under the visa exemption. The 30-day count starts from your date of entry, so January 16 is your 30th day. It's crucial to ensure that your stamp confirms this duration when you entered, as mistakes can happen, and double-checking with the immigration officer upon entry is advisable to avoid any issues later.
