Quick question I cannot find a clear answer to online. I plan to get my 2 month visa from the Thai embassy in KL next Thursday. But I want to extend one month after arriving in Phuket. What air ticket do I show them in KL? Can I book a 3 month ahead return ticket to KL, or must it be 2 months ahead to match the visa? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 2-month visa at the Thai embassy in KL, it's essential to show proof of travel out of Thailand within the visa's validity period, which is typically 60 days for a tourist visa. Although there are variations in requirements among different embassies, it's generally advisable to book a return ticket that aligns with these conditions. If you plan to apply for an extension after arriving in Phuket, you may want to check with the embassy about their specific ticket submission rules.

Check-in online and you won't be asked. You will be asked to check a box acknowledging that you have all required documents.

This varies between embassies and also people within the same embassy. Some demand just a inbound ticket, some an onward ticket within 60 days and some accept that you will apply for your 30 days extension.

Yes and especially when you apply from abroad. In Norway we know that they’ll just accept an inbound ticket. At the embassy In London I know people have different experiences.

Most embassies want to see travel out of Thailand within the number of days you will receive when you arrive, regardless of extensions. So for a tourist visa that would mean proof of travel out of Thailand within 60 days.

I thought that would be it. So I shall need to change my ticket once I get the extra 30 days? Many thanks!
