hello people, I would like to go to thailand in april for 2 months. if I do visa on arrival, can I book the return ticket for 59 days after? I know I can extend after 30 days, but when should the return flight be booked? Will the officials even let me into the country if I book a flight that doesn't leave for 59 days?

thank you and best regards

TLDR : Answer Summary
You should check your airline's policy regarding return tickets when entering Thailand. Most airlines will require proof of an outbound ticket valid for the duration of your permitted stay (currently 45 days for visa exemption), regardless of the visa extension options available once you're in Thailand. Some travelers have successfully entered with tickets beyond the 45 days but it largely depends on airline staff discretion. Booking an onward travel ticket as proof might be a safe option.

Expedia.com flights with free 24 hour cancellation 👍

As long as your return ticket is with the same airline you won't have any problems.

@Kool ******
nothing to do with same airline

do you think a onward ticket is enough?

that’s not true, when I flew to thailand in January they wanted me to proof that I leave within 45 days. Check in counter in Milan - Singapore Air, Business Class… they didn’t accepted my explanation, that I can extend my stay for another 30 days. At the end I showed them my flight to Siem Reap and they was fine. But I tried to explain the way without leaving the country. They was very stubborn and that even at business class counter..

you are an exception, for whatever reason. There are thousands coming in with the intention of staying longer than their 45 days visa exempt, or past the 60 days of their tourist visa, with a return ticket with the same airline, that have no problems at all. Just as there are exceptions to everything in life, you are simply one of those exceptions, but not the norm.

business class or economy class same rules apply

if ur on a western passport there is no VOA< u can get a visa exempt entry ( currently 45 days,) which can be extended another 30>

MOST airlines will ask for a return or forwarding ticket valid for 44 days!!

IF you get a tourist visa online , you can extend another 30 as well
Paul *******
Most airlines aren't going to be nitpicking by counting the days as long as you have an outbound ticket more or less within the permitted period of stay allowed under a visa exemption. Besides, some people use Thailand as a base for travel to neighboring countries, which can easily be explained to the airline.

@Paul ******
Then they should have a ticket out of Thailand to show the airline staff sine they will be coming and going.

@Kat *****
what a strange question in this group who has nothing to do with that
Kim *********
you are very good at writing stupid comments and I am stating facts no reason to "talk my way out of it"
Kat ******
@Kim ********
well, no other group can answer this enquiry
Kim *********
@Kat *****
ok - have you tried google search?
Marc ********
@Kim ********
Be quiet please
Kim *********
@Marc *******
ok - I could be quiet and won't mind but I try to help although I find the question strange in this group. what is your reason for asking me to be quiet? And thank you for the polite comment - some would have said stfu. I mean it when I say polite. comment 😊👍
Marc ********
@Kim ********
Because you are not helping at all.

Your comment is annoying and totally not called for imho.

She asked a question can easily be answered by someone knowing it.
Kim *********
@Marc *******
of course I am helping since google search probably will yield a lot of answers and it is certainly not annoying whereas this group probably knows nothing about that question which is totally irrelevant and hijacking another post is also a bad idea and your comment is not called for and annoying and this discussion is also total irrelevant for this group so let's stop it here.
Marc ********
@Kim ********
Sir you are trolling.

Telling someone to use Google is BS and trolling. Period.

Your comment is annoying and irrelevant.

So better just stay quiet.

Don't minding other people business sometimes is a good idea you know.

You Sir do not get to deside what is a good idea and what is not. And what is hijacking and what is not. And what is allowed in the group and what is not.

Are you am admin Sir?

Ok then kindly keep quiet if you don't have anyhing nice or helpful to say
Kim *********
@Marc *******
I said something helpful but you don't understand it and interfere in my help. Hijacking it was and in many groups such a message will be deleted because it takes away the focus from the original question which you also don't understand. The first sensible thing to do if you seek information is to do a Google search which you also don't understand. My comment was highly relevant and nice and helpful. So you be quiet for now and hopefully forever.
Marc ********
@Kim ********
Sir your comment is not helpful. It's called trolling. Not relevant.

Anybody can write stupid comments like google is your friend. Trolling first and then trying to talk your way out of it because I called you out.

Not helpful just ignorant.

And still you don't get to decide what people can ask and what not. Period

So now you be the quiet.
Kim *********
@Marc *******
from a Google search but you are of course right - not helpful at all to suggest google search - you clever man :

Here you go Sir.

Would have been awesome if you would just have posted the link in the first place.

I would have given you a thumps up and the "discussion" between you and I would not have happened.

Argument done.
Giorgio ******
been answered a hundred times , with always the same question !!!!!!!!!!

which passport ???...?..?

if you don't give the correct info how do you think you're gonna get a right answer.

nowadays people live in a stranñge world .. they think the entire world is there to serve them when they need.

we can regret thiose great times , when travelers had to discover every little thing by themselves , " When " lonely planet " and the likes didn't exist . we discovered the places . never got lost !!!

German passport.

Visa on Arrival cannot be extended, so I assume you are talking about Visa Exempt.

Immigration won't care when your ticket home is, but your airline might not let you board your flight without proof of leaving Thailand within the number of days you will receive when you arrive (
*****
). You need to check with them what their policy is, and if they require it then just google "Onward travel ticket" and rent a plane ticket out of Thailand to use for checking in.
