Hello. We are planning a 90 day visit to Thailand end of Nov. 2022. Coming from the US, we will apply for the 60 day visa within the 3 months before we fly, and then plan on applying for an additional 30 days in Thailand. The question is, will we have a problem with a return airline ticket that is for 90 days, before we actually get that extension? We don't want to incur change fees from the airline. Consulate in L.A. doesn't address this on their website nor do they answer the phone. Any advice? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning a 90-day stay in Thailand with a 60-day visa and a possible 30-day extension. They are concerned about having a return ticket for 90 days before securing the extension and whether this will cause issues with the embassy or airline. Responses suggest that onward travel proof within 60 days is typically needed for visa issuance and to avoid potential problems with airlines. Suggestions include purchasing a low-cost airfare to nearby countries or using onward ticket services for verification.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).

No problems as long as you have the 60 day SETV in your passport already…but if you feel worried just go online and buy a LCC (low cost carrier) ticket to a close location (Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam etc)
Most likely the embassy will want to see onward travel within 60 days to even issue the visa. The Washington DC Embassy asked for that from me.
And then the airline will want to see the same thing. You can just buy a cheap bus or train ticket to a neighboring country, or Google "onward travel ticket" for other options
