Hi, I have a question. I'd like to stay 3 months in Thailand, so I was thinking about applying for the e-visa to get 2 months and extend it then 1 more month. When they ask for an onward flight, should I have it on the 2nd month or is it ok at the 3rd? Thanks!

go to the thai consulate you're going to apply for the eVisa thru and read the requirements for the tourist visa 🙂

Some will accept proof of onward travel dated out 90 days (because they know you can get the 30 day extension) BUT some require you show proof of onward travel within the 60 days you'll get stamped in for

You can try showing onward travel at 90 days, and if it doesn't work they'll contact you for sure

The thing is each consulate sets their rule about it

. It was outside the 6 month visa validity and that had concerned me, but the application was approved. Whether this is the norm, I would not like to guess, but this is my experience with the E-Visa system here.

my experience has been that it’s the airline that requires proof of exit within the period of time allowed on the Visa - not including any extensions.

The requirement to show a ticket out of Thailand only applies if you are entering on a visa exemption. It's not required to show anything if you have any kind of a visa, including a tourist visa (although most embassies require it in order to get the visa in the first place). The airlines normally follow the immigration rules and should not require you to show a return ticket if you have a visa.

not TRUE as others holding a Thai Visa, tourist visa included, have been asked by their airlines for PROOF of their ticket departing Thailand within the number of days you are STAMPED in on arrival.

the e-visa online application actually only ask for your "intended date of departure", and NOT for a real ticket proof. However it is as Tod Daniels noted, the embassies and consulates have their very own say in this matter and CAN request a real onward- or return ticket within the period one gets stamped in

Yes in Norway the embassy site requires two inbound and two outbound tickets for a METV, but a friend applied for and got a METV anyway with just one inbound ticket.
