Does anybody know which thai bank the wise app uses?

I know they send to most banks but the actual bank they deal with will show international transfer on bank statement. Which is needed for when I go for non o 90 day.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Wise app utilizes multiple Thai banks for its international transfers, with Kasikorn Bank reportedly being a primary partner. Other banks mentioned include Bangkok Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, and Krung Thai Bank. Users have noted varying experiences with transfer speeds and how these transfers appear on bank statements, which is crucial for visa requirements like the Non-O 90-day reporting. While some users receive instant transfers, others report delays, especially with Bangkok Bank. It's advised to ensure that transfers visibly indicate they're international for immigration purposes.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

Wise sends to 7 banks. But according to new information, Kasikorn is where the transfer lands. If you have a Kasikorn account it appears as an international transfer. If you have an account with 1 of the other banks, it may show up as a domestic transfer as it went through Kasikorn first.

Their partners are Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn. But you cannot rely on that, as it is merely a commercial arrangement and they could overnight switch to another partner and as they do not inform you, you would be unaware.

I bank with SCB, and for years i had no problem with my statements showing my transfers as international. But, from Aug 31st 2025, they switched partner from a Thai payments company to Kasikorn Bank and from Sept 1st 2025 my transfers all showed as domestic transfers. I was unaware until i went for my Extension of Stay in December and it was rejected by Immigration.

I was eventually, after a lot bouncing around between Wise, SCB snd Kasikorn, able to cobble together a variety of documents that gave Immigration an audit trail on the transfer from Sept to December but by then my visa had expired and i was under threat of expulsion if my resubmitted docs were not accepted. With my family coming to Thailand for a holiday over Xmas and New Year this was a pretty stressful situation. Immigration eventually accepted the docs i had snd gave me the extension of stay but warned me that next year they will not accept it, and i need to provide bank statements showing international payments. So i have now quit using Wise and instead use my bank - it is slower and more expensive, but far safer. Wise is just too risky for me.

WISE discontinued marking their transfers as having come from abroad a couple of months ago. Now if you need the transfers coded as FTT, you need the letter from Kasikorn (the bank WISE uses for the last step). Visit the WISE website and input "transfer Thailand" into the search mask. Some replies will pop up in a scroll-down menu, guiding you to the site that contains instructions on how to get a confirmation letter from the Kasikorn bank that the money came from abroad

there is somewhat of a difference between Bangkok Bank and SCB. I am not wrong. My transfers from UK to Bangkok Bank using Wise show as FTT in my bank book and as international transfer on my statements as they have done for 23 months. A lot of false information on this thread.

I contacted Wise by email when I set up the payments and asked them to tag my account. It seems like that might be why it is still working for me. I had to get a manager to do it as the minions hadn't got a clue what I was talking about.

I don’t think WISE will be able to suffice or give you what you want for the 90 day “O”.

Yes, Wise uses banks as partners for holding customer funds and facilitating transfers, but Wise isn't a bank itself; it separates customer money into accounts with established financial institutions (like JPMorgan Chase in the US), rather than lending it out like traditional banks, offering protection via "safeguarding" and sometimes FDIC insurance if opted in.

How Wise Works with Banks:

Holding Funds: For security, Wise holds customer money in accounts at partner banks (e.g., JPMorgan Chase in the US, or other institutions in different regions).

FDIC Insurance (US): In the US, funds in a Wise account (for opted-in users) are swept into FDIC-insured accounts at Program Banks, providing deposit insurance up to limits.

Safeguarding (UK/Europe): In the UK and Europe, Wise uses "safeguarding" by keeping customer funds separate from their own business funds in accounts with banks, unlike banks that lend out customer money.

Transferring: When you send money, Wise uses these bank connections to move funds, often routing them locally to avoid traditional Swift fees and delays, working with many local banks like Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn in Thailand.

Key Difference from Banks:

Business Model: Banks lend out customer money, while Wise does not; it focuses on international transfers and holding funds securely in partner banks.

Services: Banks offer loans, credit, and overdrafts; Wise focuses on multi-currency accounts and global money movement.

In essence, Wise leverages banks as a crucial part of its infrastructure to keep your money safe and facilitate fast, low-cost international payments, without being a bank itself.

By the way, WISE is considered a foreign account for FinCen and FBAR reporting if your from the States.

Don' park money there.

Use Chime or SoFi which are considered USA based financial accounts.

On a Non-O just show the monthly amount required. It's doesn't even have to be in Thailand. Then once you get here start hashing though the next steps.

Coming to Thailand and staying in Thailand is just a continuous working project.

When transferring with Wise, choose 'funds for long-term stay in Thailand' and the transfer will show as an international transfer, whichever bank you use. The funds take a little longer to transfer using this option.

I understand, I don't think Kasikorn is the only bank. But there was huge discussion last year when transfers went from minutes to days and stopped showing up as international transfers. They have fixed some of the problems, but many are having to go to kasikorn to get paperwork for their visa to show it was an international transfer because kasikorn was used as an intermediary. I have Bangkok bank and Kasikorn, the difference in transfer time is night and day different

Well, normally I would agree with you, but that as of this month is no longer the case in my latest experience. My funds left my account January 8th, they have yet to 'show up' in the possession of Wise or my Kaisikorn account. Today is the 12th of January. 4 days and counting. For 10 months prior the funds arrived in my KBank account within minutes. Something has changed...

I transfer my money from Australia about 0700. If Wise sends to my money before 1000 to my BKK it will arrive at 1402 the same day. The only change will be if it is a public holiday in Thailand. the last time I did it was yesterday. It appears in my account as FTT. Foreign transfer.

If I was in your shoes, I would go back and check my bankbook codes. WISE discontinued marking their transfers as having come from abroad a couple of months ago. Now if you need the transfers coded as FTT, you need the letter from Kasikorn (the bank WISE uses for the last step) . . . . . . . . . Nigel Q. That is incorrect. BBK still use FFT as foreign transfer. There was a month where you had to transfer more than B100,000 before to got FTT. That has now reverted to the way it was before. I do check my online statement and update my book every month.
