Hello everyone,

I am staying in Chiang Mai.

I would like to ask about "Stamps transferring process to new passport" as my old passport will be expired in next few months.

My visa category is "Non-Immigrant" and it will be necessary to extend at the end of October, 2020.

I just want to know "the brief procedures for stamp transferring" to my new passport.

What should I prepare for this?

Is there any charge for this stamp transfer process?

Thanks for sharing your experiences! :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of transferring visa stamps to a new passport in Thailand differs based on whether you have a visa sticker or an extension of stay. A visa sticker cannot be transferred; you must carry both passports when traveling. However, an extension of stay can be transferred, requiring specific documentation which can vary by location. It's advisable to seek guidance from local expat groups in Chiang Mai for detailed experiences and requirements.

Okay the process is handled different depending on if you have a VISA (a sticker from a thai consulate) <- where you bounce out and back every 90 days OR whether you have an "extension of stay" (from the immigration office) <- where you do 90 day reporting.

A visa sticker can't be moved from one passport to another, so you just carry BOTH passports until you leave the country.

An extension of stay can be transferred to a new passport and while this is the list of requirements for doing the transfer in bangkok, here's basically what you need to do it.

Post on a Chiang Mai f/b group and you'll get answers from people up there who have done it
