Should have my new passport from the U.S. Embassy soon and I'll need to transfer my current visa exemption stamp. Will I have to repeat the entire stamp process over again (TM30, filling out forms, copies of everything, fees, etc.) through the local immigration office? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When transferring your visa exemption stamp from your old U.S. passport to a new one, you do not need to repeat the entire process. There is a specific document from the U.S. Embassy that requests the transfer at the Thai immigration office. It is recommended to bring copies of all used pages of your old passport, as the process is generally simple and free. The new passport will receive a reference number linked to your old passport's data.

It is a very simple free process, as mentioned above. What they do like is if you have copies of all the used pages in your old passport. When they transfer your visa extension/entry stamp into your new passport, the first stamp they put in the new passport is a reference number stamp linked to all your data from your old passport in the immigration computer database.

I too have heard this process was free, but was charged 500 baht at Udon Thani immigration.

With a 30 day extension, I was in and out in 15 minutes and they made copies for me as well. My first extension not involving 2 hours at Samui immigration so I didn’t fuss much merely for the convenience.

There is a document for Thai immigration for transfer of the stamp. There is a document the US embassy will provide you asking for the Thai immigration to transfer. Take your old passport and new passport.
