Hey does anyone know what happens if you test positive for COVID on your way out of thailand? You wouldn't be allowed to board the flight back home and then what?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you test positive for COVID-19 on your way out of Thailand, you will likely need to remain in the country until you recover or test negative, which could involve hospitalization. Many users recommend ensuring you have adequate travel insurance that covers COVID-19 related expenses, including asymptomatic cases. Some noted that hospital bills can be significant, emphasizing that it's crucial to be aware of your insurance coverage. There are concerns about the policies surrounding asymptomatic cases, as some feel these should also be covered.

If this happens to you, recommend you immediately start coughing just in case your insurance does not cover asymptomatic infections.

I'd research the symptoms and be ready to start acting as soon as they told me the test results if it were me.

its a dumb policy to not cover asymptomatic cases. im more scared of the bills than the disease. a guy here was charged 3k usd for 10 days, he had no symptoms.

you know what would be funny. Is if a testing service was running a con where they have fake positives and the hospital nearby gives them a commission for faking the test. The hospital then charges the patient a ton of money, then the patient fakes symptoms so his insurance will cover the hospital stay. Everybody scamming everybody.

Its not just Thailand, although more prevalent here.

Old saying " never let a catastrophe go to waste "

Friend tested P for Covid. Stayed home 1 wk. Built immune system. Tested N. No charge.

This whole undefined testing, etc is so nebulous, every predator and parasite are lol.

doesn’t matter if you have no symptoms, you can still have the virus and spread it just as much as if you had symptoms. Home isolation probably wouldn’t work in Thailand as there are too many distractions haha

How does insurance affect your testing.

You test positive, insurance can do nothing.

You test neg. Insur had nothing to do with it.

insurance as a tourist would cover your treatment and quarantine,if you reside in Thailand then I’d hazard a guess that the authorities will make sure you have adequate cover for immigration purposes

asymptomatic people are infectious. Hospital quarantine is probably best if they can spread infection that could cause serious illness and could possibly become sick themselves as the virus develops.

Hospitalisation until recovered or cleared. That's why you have the insurance. There's been a couple of reports of it happening

not true. Headache is a symptom of Covid 19. In Thailand everyone is admitted if you become positive. Most insurances pat anyway but if you have one that need symptoms. Headache, fever, sore throat are all symptoms. Most Drs at most hospitals automatically put down symptoms for you to make sure the insurance will pay.

not true. Of course headache is a symptom of covid-19, but it's not a serious symptom to go to hospital for a MEDICAL reason, which some insurance companies demand for payment.
