Covid related question

Just tested positive pcr yesterday the 8th, so isolating till the 18th.

I fly on the 24th Manchester to Phuket and I have been told that my pcr 72hrs before and my pcr when I land will most probably show positive.

Is there any paperwork around this, has anyone else had this experience

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user who tested positive for COVID-19 poses concerns about their upcoming flight from Manchester to Phuket. They inquire about paperwork and whether others have faced similar experiences. Responses revolve around the necessity of having a negative test prior to travel, the implications of recent positive tests, and advice about vaccination and NHS apps. Can't beleive people are still getting covid, that's so amateur after all the warnings. Stop making the problem worse and stay home.
James *******
No excuse. Stay home, saves lives and protect the NHS.

Get an NHS free pcr test after your isolation, to see if still showing negative or positive
Niclas ***********
There is an section covering this in the FAQ.
**********************************************************

Try to advise with that with airline and Thai embassy.
Niclas ***********
Yeah seems so crap haha go to the main page and click on this it will go to a FAQ with a pdf available as well.

Hi
@J**
, what came of this? I need to fly into BKK for 7 day alternative Quarantine on a positive test and a recovery certificate from the Dr. Did that work out for you? Did you find specific information confirming you could enter with a recovery letter? Is there a URL or document that I can show the airline?
Jay **********

@Curtis ********************
Hi I didn't have a recovery letter and I believe I have read they are not accepting a letter, Etihad Airways would only take a negative rt pcr test to fly with them

maybe it is down at the moment... This is the section of the PDF and the name of it.

You shouldn't test again for 90 days
Jon *********
You must have negative pcr to travel. End of. If you pass that and are vaccinated as far as I can see all is good.
Trevor **********
How long is the Thailand Pass valid for before you must enter Thailand
Michael ********
@Jay *********
thailand pass is valid for your flight submitted changes of up to 72 hours are allowed if airline cancels or delays.

If you have the NHS app on your phone and it is up to date with your vaccines you will find the QR codes have been removed for up dating and will be reinstalled when your isolation period is over. And then automatically a new QR will of been download stating that you have recovered form covid,this you can show to your airline for boarding thus eliviating the need for a PCR. You should not have a PCR test within 90 days of a positive one,incase of a false positive reading. Then you would have to isolate all over again. I'm going through the same thing,just make sure the recovery stamp goes on your NHS app.

@Glyn ********
looks like good advice but also would have to consider where you are transiting ..

Etihad via Abu Dhabi.

@Jay *********
you need to of downloaded the NHS app not the NHS COVID19 app. In my case I've had three vaccine jabs and when I was in isolation the QR apps were taken off pending my recovery then on day 10 I was phoned and cleared of covid and they went back on plus my new recovery app which looks like a vaccine app. The NHS phoned me everyday to check me out and were brilliant. I suggest you phone 119 for their help about the apps. Don't forget you need the NHS app and not the NHS covid 19 app. After 24 years of going to Thailand lm finding what a nightmare it is this year.

Glyn are you travelling to Thailand soon, very informative so grateful for the info, would the Thai authorities understand at their end as I wouldn't be able to do a pcr on arrival
Jay **********
ORIGINAL POSTER
Hey Glyn, which NHS apps are we talking here, I have 2, track and trace where I entered my positive pcr result and the app which has my covid vaccinations on
Glyn *********
@Jay *********
i was told the Thai authorities will accept the NHS covid recovery app along side your vaccine jab apps as they know the time space is 90 days between PCR,s.
Glyn *********
@Jay *********
that is a question I can't answer as I don't travel till 1st Feb. I booked in to a SHA+ Hotel prior to getting covid and will still leave the booking open in case of problem. My info was obtained via my ticket agent trailfinders,my GP here in the UK and NHS 119. It makes sense as just imagine getting a negative prior to flying. If you are still in doubt I suggest contacting Thai Embassy(london) via email or your airline via email. I'm sure you'll be fine as I was worried like you until I found info. Good luck.

What was your ct levels of the results
James ********
Sadly you will not be flying anytime soon. Be sure to cancel your bookings so as to not lose the $$. Contact your doctor. But its usually three months from recovery to travel with doctors medical certificate you have recovered from COVID and test negative. .

@James *******
any documents I’ve seen about flying after being Covid positive have said that you had Covid within the last 90 days, wouldn’t make much sense if you had to wait 90 days to fly.

Think you just need a negative test and a doctors note
James ********
@Jared *********
again I do not know...other than I suspect he will have difficulty checking in for his flight.

What documentation that will satisfy airline staff is not known.

And on arrival and added RT-PCR tests if he tests positive...What happens?

He is pushing the envelope with such a very short time from having COVID.

The Thai labs appear to be sensitive to the COVID residual particles = testing positive again.
Jared **********
@James *******
false positives are not likely

If he tests negative then he is good to fly, there’s nothing to check

It only becomes an issue for vaccinated purposes, you have to wait a period after getting it to get the vaccine, before that you can get a doctors note saying you are recovered from Covid in lieu of being vaccinated
Martin ********
@Jared *********
And if you test positive in Thailand? Maybe they will let you go with right documentation, but is it worth the risk?
Jared **********
@Martin *******
once you test negative you aren’t going to magically test positive a week later, that’s why they use the tests they do
Martin ********
@Jared *********
Jared Jernegan Not true. Depends on the test. If you can have a false positive with never having had the virus, you could certainly have inconsistent results from test to test if having recently had the virus. In addition folks say it can take 90 days to get back to reliably negative results. It sounds like he will be well short of that time.

Considering the consequences of testing positive in Thailand and the inconsistent enforcement of policy, this would be a real nail-biter in my opinion.
Jared **********
@Martin *******
why are you saying it “depends on the test” when there is only one test that you need to take. And as the most accurate test we have the odds of getting a false positive are fractions of a percent.

You aren’t going to have inconsistent results between tests, it CAN take 90 days, but around 30 days is what they say the average is to test negative after having it.

You seem to be pretty confused about Covid tests, maybe go do some googling? 🤷‍♂️
Martin ********
@Jared *********
Far from confused. I'm glad you can offer this advice to others with a clear conscience. It is up to others to evaluate the risk for themselves.

If you think there is no difference between the test I get from a pharmacy in the US and the test the Thais administer then you are quite an optimist. However, somehow I doubt it. More like you don't like to be called wrong, no matter who suffers on account of it.
Jared **********
@Martin *******
the tests we are talking about you don’t buy from pharmacies. Absolutely hilarious

You are having a conversation about Covid tests but you don’t even know what type of test we are talking about, and you’re not confused? Maybe drunk then?

Facebook isn’t a news source so maybe you should stop treating it like one 🙃
Jdr *******
Jared **********
@Jan ******
anyones an expert when you don’t even know what test people are talking about, or think they’re all the same. 🤷‍♂️

Imagine confusing antigen tests with molecular tests 😂
James ********
@Jared *********
I hope you are correct.
Jared **********
@James *******
it’s come up before in this group just not very often, after catching Covid you have a natural immunity for however long they say it lasts
James ********
@Jared *********
with that I will bow out and wish the gent success in returning.

There is not sufficient reporting of this happening and its outcomes.

Hopefully he will report back what really happens so others will know.
Jeff ********
He is right.
Tim ******
I THINK you need to be negative for 14 days before you can travel after a positive test. Double check or maybe someone can clarify but I believe you need to test again after 10 days, be negative then wait 14 days. Check into that. 🥴🥴
