What happens when you test positive for Covid during ASQ?

My friend just tested positive three days ago and was immediately transported out by an ambulance to a private hospital. I haven't been able to contact him since and the hospital didn't wanna give any details about him except that they 'put him away'.

Do you think he will be fine and resurface some day? I am really worried.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When someone tests positive for Covid during ASQ in Thailand, they are usually transferred to a designated hospital for further treatment and observation. Patients are monitored until they can provide two negative Covid tests. While the concern for the patient’s wellbeing is valid, reports indicate that they generally receive good care, and hospitals often abide by confidentiality regulations preventing them from disclosing patient information to others.

I am sure your friend will be taken care of very well. Don’t forget that the hospital usually isn’t allow to give information on patients to „friends“ or even family memeberd without the permission of the patient himself. All ASQ hotels cooperate in Bangkok with great hospitals. So in case your friend is showing symptoms he is a very good hands. Hope you will hear from you friend soon and can both meet up soon after recovery/ negative tests

This is happening a lot! Positive test in Thailand after a negative test outside. No symptoms, but kicked out of your expensive ASQ and now facing a bigger hospital bill with no refund on the hotel either.

David Broadfoot and passengers in flight changing their seats... opening their masks and also blowing their nose when they are in their seat exposing some virus... flight attendants told one family to stick to their seats but as soon as the lights turn off they quickly occupied a few rows...

How do ppl get covid after -ve resukt then having no contact with ppl in hotel. Is it the food?
Elisa *******
@Happy *******
they can be negative at travel time but be in incubation. Shows up positive later. Seems like day 3-5 are the most common.

If your friend does not have a Thai SIM card and the hospital no WiFi....

Such a huge percentage of answers trying to be funny (and are not) in a situation in which love and concern are the actual normal human reactions ... I was wondering if the persons with black humor would react the same if one of their dearest persons would be nowhere to be found and sick...and by the way, thats an interesting question, however you won't find the answer in this group, as I haven't heard yet of a farang covid patient resident in Thailand and how would they deal with the situation.

If I tested positive but had no symptoms, I would not take anything.... definitely would not let them take my phone...
Mick **********
Does anyone know what medications they're using, or is it a secret so WHO or the CDC won't find out..
Jonas *************
More interesting is what happens if anyone else who isn't that is fine or to bed infected... What bill will you get from the forced hospitalisation?
Ivan ************
@Jo***
if you go through the public system rather than a private hospital the bill would be substantially lower. If it does come to it, and money is a concern, definitely go to a public hospital.
Jonas *************
I'm talking about people who are already here. If it starts spreading locally....

you can buy , or should I say there were Thai company's selling covid19 insurance before this outbreak 🤔
Kool *******
@Jonas ************
this is exactly why you are required to have insurance that covers at least US$100,000 for covid-19 treatment in order to enter Thailand now.

The reason the hospital are not giving any details is that ur friend is gonna be fleeced of about 100,000b bill. Welcome to the scams of Thailand. 😣😣

If you phoned a hospital in your home country about one of their patients unless you are a known family member would that hospital provide info of the status of a patient? Mostly not ,privacy regulations

You do 15 days quarantine in a hospital room. He should still have wifi and all his stuff. He's probably fine and just ignoring you ;)

From reading other posts on different groups, it appears it’s standard practice to transfer to the partner hospital, even if asymptomatic. Once you pass two negative Covid tests you are then free to leave or return to the ASQ if still in the 15 day window.
Bob ***********
@Stuart ********
how soon after testing positive do people test negative? I read you can continue to test positive for up to 3 months!

Do they keep the patient locked up and guarded by security? Is communication with the outside world possible?
Stuart *********
@David *****
sorry can’t say. I guess they’re confined to a private room but whether communication is possible I have no idea.
