TLDR : Answer Summary
If you test positive on day 5, it's generally advised to self-isolate, especially if you're asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. Reporting may not be strictly enforced, and many expats suggest avoiding unnecessary government complications. There are opinions on self-policing, taking additional tests, or even not utilizing the reporting app at all, reflecting a prevailing sentiment that authorities are less stringent with individuals who are not showing severe symptoms. However, the situation and requirements can change, so it's wise to stay updated on local regulations.

I felt sick and took a test to be sure. In Pai, I had to self isolate for 7 days at my hotel. After you get a report. Witch may be handy if you need a test to fly home, and somehow that one is still positive

Nobody give a bleep about the Day 5 test. Nobody will arrest you for nor reporting. Worse that happened to people is a small fine upon departure for "forgetting" the Day 5 test. Thai rules are often subject to interpretation and each rule don't hold the same value. Following "every laws" to a tee is not something that any foreigner living here would ever recommend.
Thai authorities have been very easy going. If you are non symptomatic, they'll advise you to self isolate. They'll even give you free medications, a digital thermometer and an oxygen meter, all free. But it's not necessary to report if you are non symptomatic and don't need or don't want the free goodies
Totally agree, if you report it, there is a potential risk that the authorities will ask you to go quarantine under their umbrella which costs a fair coin and if A Symptomatic, insurance will Not cover. Play it safe and self isolate is the best option.
Have someone buy 2 new tests to double check. Then both of you take the new test. It would be a shame if you accidentally mixed the results if one is positive and you report the negative so the government doesn't get involved. But then be responsible and isolate for 5-10 days either way.

I never did this self test...no one gonna ask anyway..
I BELIEVE, you self police yourself and self isolate if you can for a few days, if you have mild or no symptoms. At this point, I believe the day 5 reporting is for statistical purposes.
