TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Thailand holding a Non-O visa for family reasons seeks clarification about their visa's validity, noting that while their visa expired on December 16, their red entry stamp is valid until December 30. Community members clarify that the entry stamp is what determines their allowed stay. They discuss various extension options available, such as applying for a 60-day family visit extension, a COVID-related extension, or an annual extension upon marriage to the child's mother. It’s advised to visit immigration no earlier than 30 days before the red stamp expiration to avoid issues.

I'm going to close this post down. This is getting hijacked, and the post is getting confusing. Please make your own post.

Hi guys and thanks for your help. I’m planning on staying here long term now. I am marrying my daughters mum soon, just trying in to get a bit of breathing space first so it’s not all a rush. When will I need to go to immigration? How many days before the 30th dec ?

Marrying your partner will of course get you a year extension of stay based on marriage, but if she is the mother of your biological child, it will also allow a year of stay based on your child as well. Just for info.

You can get a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family no earlier than 30 days before the stamp expires (45 days for some immigration offices).

Which immigration office do you want to use?

I'm not sure what the requirements are for Udon Ratchathani. Expect to bring the following:

1. Your passport and:

- a copy of the data page

- a copy of the visa page

- a copy of your entry stamp

- a copy of your departure card

2. Your child, and the child's ID, and a copy of:

- Birth certificate OR passport page

3. 2x passport pictures

4. The extension of stay request form (which you can get at the immigration office)

5. 1,900 THB.

YOU MAY NEED:

- Updated TM30. Ask your landlord/ property owner

How long are you planning on staying in Thailand?

As you are eligible for the 60 days COVID extension..

I suggest you get that first.

And at its end...try to get the 60 days family visit extension.

You really need to sort out your visa options. As Tod asked re your status with your Thai child.

as far as options to stay, IF you have legal parental rights granted by the family court or the local amphur you could apply for a year extension by showing 400K baht in a thai bank account.

OR

You could apply for a 60 day visit thai family extension with just the birth certificate

OR

You could apply for a 60 day unable to travel due to covid extension

Those are pretty much the options you have

you're confusing two things.

The visa is what let you ask to get IN to the country so once you got stamped in it's worthless

the red entry stamp is what lets you STAY in the country so you're good to the 30th of Dec
