Another question. non o single entry based child visa finishes first of March which I would like to extend end of February. But if I was to leave Thailand for work in January and get a re entry permit so I could come back in begining March when I'm permitted to. but it wouldn't give me the time to get it extended.! So could I extend it begining January which would give me until May with the 60 day extension or is January to early to extend it. If I didn't extend it before I left and visa runs out 1st March and I arrive after that what happens. How can I keep coming in and out of Thailand without a problem? I'm self employed work in UK have child here not married always come in on multi entry this year is my first go at the non o. Should I stick to multi entry or will that get me flagged up. What can I do? Don't want to go back and apply for another single non o 3 months after getting one already?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their Non-O single entry based child visa, which is set to expire on the 1st of March. They are considering leaving Thailand for work in January and are unsure about the timing for an extension. The community suggests that extensions can be applied for 30 to 45 days before the visa expiration, depending on the location, and that it's possible to apply for a 60-day family extension early. Other suggestions include obtaining parental rights to apply for a one-year extension and the importance of financial requirements.

What financial requirements do you need when you gain parental rights briefly?

400K baht in a thai bank account OR a letter from your consulate that you make 40K baht a month OR if your consulate doesn't issue that letter here anymore you need to prove you are transferring into the country a minimum of 40K baht a month each month every month for the previous 12 months before you apply for an extension

you MIGHT <- (as in maybe) be able to go to the immigration office show them you're leaving the country and see if they'll let you get the 60 day visit family extension early. All they can say is no, who knows they might do it. If they did you could buy a re-entry permit right after they issued that 60 day extension.

'Go see a lawyer, get the official parental rights and apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay and when stamped in the passport the multiple re-entry permit to travel and keep the extension alive.

Okay, lets look at this. you had a 90 day entry on your Non-O that expires the 1st of March. <- Now in Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Buriram & Phuket you can apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp so any time after the 17th of Jan. Other places are 30 days or less so any time after the 31st of Jan

Why don't you want to go get another 90 day Non-O visa? I know people who get them every 5 months for years and years because like you they are the father of a half-thai child that was born when they weren't married to the thai mother.

thank you yes I could keep getting the 90 day non o but wasn't sure if that would be possible as by the end of 1 year I would possibly used 3 pages up in passport with new visas. But don't mind doing that if it works.. How can I change it to a yearly non o and use the multi re entry?

Stick to getting year-long multi-entry Non-O's if you can.
