We are now in Phuket on our UK 30 Day Visa Free basis (as our 60 Day Visa application did not get processed in time for our flight to Thailand.

need to apply for our 30 Day Extension Visa.

For those who have done the same, a few questions please:

Is the Immigration Office in Phuket town easy to find?

Is there a best day of the week / time of day to go there?

Is the place where you get your ticket to wait for the 30 Day Extension Visa easy to identify amongst where you have to go for other Visa types?

Any tips for what to do / not to do to try to make the process work successfully?

Many thanks.

Get there at least an hour before it opens as it gets so busy. I gave up and did in phangnga today I was the only person there very easy. If you go to phuket town don't go on a Monday.

OP
Daniel Bowbanks is there a queue outside before it opens or is it a free for all?

An interesting thought about the Phang Nga office, I thought you had to go to the local one where you are staying?

did you have an onward ticket within in 30 days or was the airline not bothered?

OP
Collywobble Thomason Yes we did and yes they were bothered.

As a contingency we bought the lowest price single ticket from Thailand we could get with Scoot within the 30 days.

Even then it took many checks and much discussion for Singapore Air to allow us to fly into Phuket!

Barry Parsons we have to hope that things will return to the easy peasy ways of entering thailand but not with the current xenophobic thai government?? as an old bloke i dont need the anxiety of uncertain entry and trying to get a tourist visa seems to be a long and stressfull process

At the Phuket Town office you go to room 101. There are 4 forms to fill in. You need a photo, copy of passport photo page, copy of your entry stamp and a print of your TM30 from your hotel or landlord. 1900 baht.

The volunteers will check you have everything needed and then give you a queue ticket. Depends on how busy but expect about an hour.

very many thanks.

We have everything else, we don’t have an entry stamp in our passport though as we used the new e-Gates as suggested on our TDAC form.

However the e-Gate did give us a print out showing our 30 Day Visa free entry which hopefully is the equivalent of a passport entry stamp.

Yes, easy to find, but if going by car the car park is usually full so you'll need to find a space nearby (not on the red and white stripes).

When you go in the main entrance the volunteers will help you. They'll check your forms before giving you a ticket.

You need a passport photo, and copy of your TM30 which is provided by your landlord/hotel. You can print this out and get photos done at the copy shop. Also copy of passport and entry stamp. You need to sign all print outs.

You can pickup the forms on the left as you go in the main entrance.

And of course you need the 1900b fee, and they only accept cash.

Busiest times are Monday and Friday mornings. Good luck

Immigration usually prefer you using a blue pen for signing stuff. I’ve always found Mondays a really busy day at Immigration. (Jomtien/Pattaya)

Barry Parsons oh one other thing, sometimes you need to go back on the next working day to collect your passport in the afternoon. Even though they'll stamp it in front of you they still have to put it in the system. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but don't book a boat trip or anything for the next day as you may have to go back.

Have you received your visa via email now ? If so you can go to nearby country and come back in on the visa
Barry *********
Barry *********
OP
Wayne Roberts unfortunately not, as they cancelled our application once we had left the UK to fly to Thailand.

“We cannot process your application as your flight is already passed.Visa processing time will take 4 - 6 weeks. Your application will be cancelled and the visa fee is not refundable.”

processing time of 4-6 weeks!! One of the unintended impacts of the withdrawal of the 60 days Visa free option.

OP
Wayne Roberts definitely the Royal Thai Embassy in London

seems to be overwhelmed with applications they are struggling to process since the UK 60 Day Visa Free option was officially stopped in mid September.
