TLDR : Answer Summary
A user celebrated obtaining their first one-year extension on their Non-O Family Ties visa, valid until March 15, 2027. They received several congratulatory responses, with discussions focusing on the importance of applying for a re-entry permit and various experiences in the visa application process. There were also queries regarding the specific terms of visa validity and extensions, highlighting some confusion about the duration typically granted for extensions, especially related to different visa types.

If you leaves Thailand without a re-entry permit, his extension becomes void — gone.

Why do you want to live in a country that makes it so difficult for you to do so?

Mark Zorz every country has rules for foreigners to come and live … the rules don’t make a difference unless for some reason you can document yourself or prove you are capable of caring for yourself once you arrive 🤷‍♂️

Penny Nave yep. 90 day reporting. That's so common in other countries. It's like you're on parole.

Mark Zorz 🤣okay your right that does it, reporting every 90 days is a deal breaker … I guess I better throw in the towel and move 😂

I agree they could make it easier but it is a what is 🤷‍♂️

I left once without getting a re-entry visa in 2024. I had to do that whole 6 months on visa exempt and then tourist visa. Won’t make that mistake again.

Question for the informed people. If you leave with a re-entry permit what do you put on your TDAC as your visa number when you return back to Thailand? Someone in one of these groups told me that the number in the top left of this photo becomes your visa number, is that correct or which is it actually?

Ling Gah exactly the same as before when you filled in the small TM8 paper form. The number printed on the re entry permit.

Succondis try 15 March. First 1 is not part of the stamp

Jacques Slabbert I agree. That's the edge of the stamp that had ink on it and was probably pushed down unevenly. Issued in 16, expires on 15.

It really is a good feeling getting the first one, just that feeling of being able to stay legally for a full year without having to do tedious border runs. Congratulations 🎊
