What should I know about applying for a Thai visa at a consulate, especially regarding reapplication and fees?

Thanks for all the info on my last post. You all were very helpful. These questions hopefully are more simple to answer.

1) When applying for visa at a consulate, if denied, does that carry over to other consulates in other countries or show up to them? Or can i keep trying many different ones until i succeed at no penalty?

2) The fee involved in applying for visa says non refundable...so if I apply and am denied, do I still have to pay that $80 US (ie in Cambodia) fee for the visa though I didnt get it?

3) James Miller I saw you give a name of Amornrat (i think) to help some people. I have used his Visa service several times. Is it possible to arrange his help from one of the consulates by meeting him there since i am already outside Thailand? I am just asking for now ..not planning it yet. but would like to know if it "could" be arranged?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses several important aspects of applying for a Thai visa at a consulate, including the implications of visa denial, non-refundable fees, and the possibility of using an agent for assistance. It seeks clarification on whether previous visa denials affect future applications at different consulates, the financial loss if the application is denied, and the feasibility of arranging help from a visa service while outside Thailand.

, some notes about Phnom Penh, they like that you use agent. But Embassy is hardcore. Why? It is not because the few foreigner that apply. It is in fact the thousands of Cambodian that apply visa under MOU agreement, so Embassy has basically no capacity for "real or fake tourist". You will often see people mention certain shops to use, but they also give passport to the real agency, I assume there are 3. We used to deal with one of them, but even this does not give an "positive" outcome. Phnom Penh also have the attitude to collect payment with application and than void, while keeping the money. A place to be avoided. If you just plan to stay a limited time and you have not used the allowance of 2 land border crossing, use one of the friendly border to enter Thailand on 30day visa exempt. Ban Laem, Ban Pakkard or Had Lek is OK.

Phnom Penh issue the visa, then void it, rather than simply denying the visa according to reports if they consider you shouldn't have it.

Thaivisa service do not run in to Cambodia, only to the border.

in Phnom Penh they will take your money, take your application paperwork and then give your passport back with VOID on the visa sticker

If I can see this, the embassy/consulate or any other official can see that you state that you live in Thailand. If you’re trying for a tourist visa , you shouldn’t be living anywhere in Thailand. They have been known to check Facebook accounts of applicants.

: what I’m saying is make your profile private or remove that information or you won’t have any luck with getting a new visa.

I cant undo the fact i worked there for 6 years....that is automatically gonna look like i want to live in Bangkok. I just want to get my affairs in order

@Rodd *******
: understood. But the person looking at your application doesn’t know your story. They see you wanting to live in Bangkok on a tourist visa.

There is more to the story from a previous post....so when i say i live in thailand..its used loosely. I stay in Thailand. I had worked there for over 6 years and took a break just recently. Before this break i did "live" there or stayed there with valid work permits.

1. You lose the fee. Consulates don't share yet the history...but can see what is in your passport.

2. Yep...lost money.

3. I have asked
@Amornrat *********
to reply. However I think cannot meet you outside Thailand. Your history is a difficult one to work with. As I suggested in the closed post of yours you may need to stay in Cambodia until January 2020 then do land border crossing.

Rodd Miller it's calendar year for border land crossings for visa exempt entries. But must carefully pick the land border to cross. You can do two land border entries per calendar year.

Forgot to ask also....so its calender years in entries? IO said i needed to wait a full year for next tourist visa..but she said a lot of things that arent same as i heard here

@Rodd *******
your thinking too much. Sadly your ways of getting into Thailand are drawing to a close. I wish I knew a magical solution. Possibly
@Tod ********
can suggest an option.

Just out of curiosity, maybe you can give your thoughts on this. The DMK IO put the denial stamp just before the last few pages of my passport book all the way at the end. Its kind of hidden...when it could have been right after last entry stamp. Do you think there was a specific reason for this? Did he do it convertly maybe to not make it so obvious. it very far back in my pages and can be missed easily if not thumbing through them all. Just wondering
