What are my options for obtaining a Thai tourist visa after receiving a refusal in Vientiane?

SO...*sigh...trying to plan my next visa run. Planning is hardly my strong side and last one didn't really go so well to say the least. At least it did not go according to plan. Only have myself to blame really as I very well know how the remark stamp, "stamp of doom" as I call it, looks like, but I forgot to all about it. (See pic. The black text should preferably not be there. This is from the embassy in Vientiane.) Just as expected they would NOT issue me any more TR visas there anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong but the easiest and most logic option now feels like trying the Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam as I stay in BKK. I have 8 pages left in my passport. So I should be fine. One again correct me if I'm wrong. What are the chances that they deny me a TR there as well based on too many in my passport? I had to use one of my two yearly VOA (visa exempt I think its called) to get back in to Thailand last time. Never been to Hanoi so any dos and foremost DON'TS would be well appreciated. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is attempting to plan a visa run after having a negative experience obtaining a TR visa in Vientiane, where they were refused due to a negative stamp in their passport. They are considering applying for a visa at the embassy in Hanoi but are unsure about the chances of being refused again. Contributors provided their experiences, tips regarding other locations to obtain visas, and cautioned against frequent visits to certain places due to visa regulations.

The same thing happened to me in Vientiane 9 years ago. I never went back. Super rude staff. I feel for you. Good luck.

You are working as a DJ, get the correct visa and work permit. Never complain that you can't break the law any more!

I totally agree with you. However I'm not working as a DJ. Would make no sense to do visa runs if I was working in Thailand as a DJ. Then I could get a work visa. I'm officially and formally retired. Would have no problem proving it to the embassy or producing efficient bank statement etc. Unfortunately you have to be at least 50 to apply for retirement visa no matter what. So that is not an option. Not quite yet anyway :/

If you went to your home then why didn't you get a SETV or a 6 month METV (if available) at home??

Yangon is an option, as is phnom penh. Think i read someone getting refused in penang, based on a red stamp from elsewhere

once you got that warning stamp than Phnom Penh is NO OPTION.

Yeah you shouldn't have hit Vientiane so many times in a row :/

Any thai consulate other than the two in Lao should be able to issue you a single entry tourist visa. Check their website to make sure you meet their requirements BEFORE you wing your way there.
