Can someone enlighten me on what happens to your passport status after you sell up and move permanently to Thailand on a retirement visa
Assuming you have multiple years left before passport expires ,
Your Passport information will contain your now outdated old home address
should you inform your home embassy or consulate in Thailand and give them your Thailand address so that they can replace your current passport with a new passport showing your new Thailand address
Or What. ??
If you continue to use your passport with your now outdated address could you be denied entry into your home country due to you sharing the same address as the people who bought your old home and now have passports of their own
Comments welcome
TLDR : Answer Summary
When moving to Thailand on a retirement visa, your passport remains valid regardless of your old home address being outdated. It's a common misconception that passports contain personal address information; they do not. Instead, passports serve as proof of nationality and allow international travel. If you plan to renew your passport, you may provide your current address in Thailand at that time, but this is not required until renewal is necessary. Generally, countries do not deny entry based on outdated address information in your passport, making it unnecessary to inform your home embassy about your living arrangements in Thailand.
