Hi all,

I got an approved online retirement visa. Plan to make the move within 1-2 months.

Now, if I changed my mind and I would like to stay in a different place than what I've written in the application (Different apartment in a different city), do I need to inform them of this in advance, or can this be done after my arrival, when I'll go to the local immigration office to extend my visa to 1 year? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
Once you have your approved retirement visa, you can change your address without needing prior notification to immigration. The address listed in your visa application is mainly for processing purposes. However, be sure to file a TM30 form at the local immigration office when you settle into your new location to maintain compliance, especially when you extend your visa after the initial 90-day entry stamp.

Travel around, find a place you are happy. Do your 90day at closest immigration office (or online if no address change). Ive been alternating staying a few months, then travelling a few months for 2 years with no issues. It's fairly common to move around on OA Visa till you find your new "home", if ever. Settling for few months sometimes gets better rental rates.

Doesn't make any difference where you stay once you got the visa issued.

The address you used is just to get thru the application process

You can stay where ever you want,

Make sure you file a TM30 at the immigration office that covers the area where you stay once you get there, so that you can use that office to file for the year extension when your 90 day entry stamp from the Non-O visa runs down
