I will return to Thailand for 120 days in November. I have a valid retirement extension in my old passport which I will use on entry with my new passport. I will leave Thailand before the extension expires. I don't intend to renew it. Since I will not return to Thailand long stay.

Is it necessary to get the retirment extension transferred into my new passport.

What are your views on this small problem please.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual plans to return to Thailand for 120 days with a valid retirement extension in their old passport while using a new passport for entry. They are inquiring whether it is necessary to transfer the retirement extension to their new passport, given they do not intend to renew their stay afterward. Comments suggest that while immigration typically transfers visas from old to new passports, it may not be necessary in this case, as the retirement extension will cover the individual's stay. Some participants note potential concerns regarding immigration officials upon exit but acknowledge the lack of requirement for a visa during departure.

I take it that you have a re-entry permit? I can't see any reason to transfer it as you're not renewing. The only problem is the IO on exit may make a fuss.

I have a re-entry permit. I have come to he conclusion that it is not necessary to transfer. Thanks for your advice. If the IO has a problem I will use the old man i not understand. But they never ask for visa on the way out. Especially with the new fast gates.

this is why there's confusion.. You've entered, your stay is covered... You don't need a visa to leave? So why would you need to transfer it?

You do need a visa to leave. The IO will need to see it or he will fine the visitor for overstaying but that doesn't mean he has to transfer it.

Not everywhere, you will often be told to go to the Immigration Office where the extension was issued to get it transferred
